Brain-to-Brain Interfaces: When Reality Meets Science Fiction

نویسنده

چکیده

Editor's Note: Every memory that we have, act that we perform, and feeling that we experience creates brainstorms—interactions of millions of cells that produce electrical signals. Neuroscientists are now able to record those signals, extract the kind of motor commands that the brain is about to produce, and communicate the commands to machines that can understand them and facilitate movement in the human body. Research in this area has the potential to help paraplegics and others suffering from spinal-cord injuries to control machines with their thoughts and to bolster their ability to get around.

Biomechanical analysis of blast-induced traumatic brain injury

Purpose: Blast-induced traumatic brain injury (bTBI) is one of the causes of death or permanent   invalidity which can occur unexpectedly in both military and civilian populations. This study   set out to conduct a combined Eulerian-Lagrangian computational analysis of the interaction   between a single planar blast wave and a human head in order to assess the extent of intracranial   shock w...

Controlling In-Vehicle Systems with a Commercial EEG Headset: Performance and Cognitive Load

Humans have dreamed for centuries to control their surroundings solely by the power of their minds. These aspirations have been captured by multiple science fiction creations, such as the Neuromancer novel by William Gibson or the Brainstorm cinematic movie, to name just a few. Nowadays, these dreams are slowly becoming reality due to a variety of brain-computer interfaces (BCI) that detect neu...
