Effects of the nuclear correlations on the neutrino-oxygen interactions

چکیده

We perform a calculation of the absolute charged current neutrino-oxygen events rates relevant in the atmospheric neutrino experiments. The inclusive reaction crosssection is split into exclusive channels, which are classified according to the number of Čerenkov rings they produce. The model includes the effects of residual interaction in a RPA scheme with both nucleon-hole and Delta-hole excited states and the effects of (npnh) excitations (n=2,3 ). Our result is that although the flavor ratio μ/e remains almost unaffected by the nuclear effects considered here and often neglected in the Monte-Carlo simulations, the absolute events rates are subject to important modifications. Nuclear effects in neutrino-nucleus DIS

We explain the current status of nuclear parton distribution functions in connection with neutrino-nucleus interactions. Neutrino deep inelastic scattering (DIS) measurements have been done for heavy nuclear targets such as iron and lead. In order to extract structure functions of the nucleon, one needs to remove nuclear effects from the data. However, recent studies indicate that there are inc...

Neutrino-oxygen Interactions: Role of Nuclear Physics in the Atmospheric Neutrino Anomaly

The apparent anomaly in the ratio of muon to electron atmospheric neutrinos first observed by Kamiokande and IMB has been confirmed by Super-Kamiokande and Soudan-2. The experimental analysis, including the asymmetry in the zenithal distributions of the μ− type events in Super-Kamiokande gives a strong support to the neutrino oscillation hypothesis to solve the anomaly. In this work we are inte...

توصیف برهم‌کنش‌های بس‌ذره‌ای هسته‌ای در چارچوب نظریه تغییر شکل کوانتومی

A fermion realization of compact symplectic algebra provides a natural framework for studying pairing correlations of many-body interactions in nuclei. Here, we use quantum deformation concept in order to describe pairing correlations in atomic nuclei. While the nondeformed limit of the theory provides a reasonable and overall description of certain nuclear properties and fine structure effects...

The Effects of Correlations on Neutrino Opacities in Nuclear Matter

Including nucleon–nucleon correlations due to both Fermi statistics and nuclear forces, we have developed a general formalism for calculating the neutral–current neutrino–nucleon scattering rates in nuclear matter. We derive corrections to the dynamic structure factors due to both density and spin correlations and find that neutrino–nucleon scattering rates are suppressed by large factors aroun...

Effects of Strong and Electromagnetic Correlations on Neutrino Interactions in Dense Matter

An extensive study of the effects of correlations on both charged and neutral current weak interaction rates in dense matter is performed. Both strong and electromagnetic correlations are considered. The propagation of particlehole interactions in the medium plays an important role in determining the neutrino mean free paths. The effects due to Pauli-Blocking and density, spin, and isospin corr...
