Double-Lumen Flotation Catheter for Use

چکیده
A DOUBLE-LUMEN flotation catheter* is now used regularly in myocardial infarction research units to obtain right heart pressures in acutely ill patients. It has proven a safe and reliable method of obtaining right heart pressures without fluoroscopy. The technique is simple: A 5-French double-lumen catheter with a small inflatable rubber balloon just proximal to the tip is inserted into a peripheral vein and advanced centrally. The pressure is then monitored by means of one lumen and a conventional pressure transducer. The balloon is then inflated by the second lumen and carried by blood flow through the right heart into the pulmonary artery. Within a few heart cycles and with little or no manipulation, pressures of pulmonary wedge position and pulmonary artery can be obtained.' Entry into various parts of the circulation in

The Impact of Intraluminal Vancomycin Adminstration on Prevention of Hemodialysis CatheterRelated Infections
Introduction: Percutaneously inserted double-lumen central venous hemodialysis catheters provide the nephrologist with an excellent temporary access for an immediate hemodialysis treatment and preserve the peripheral veins for the future creation of a permanent arteriovenous vascular access. Unfortunately catheterrelated infections are usually common. In this study, the impact of intra luminal ...
متن کاملShould a Double-Lumen Catheter be withdrawn?
Haemodialysis needs a credible and recurrent access to the systemic circulation which can be accomplished by way of central vein catheterization. We report the case of bleeding after withdrawal of the double lumen catheter. A 36-year-old woman who was a known case of end-stage renal disease referred to a dialysis center because of her arteriovenous fistula malfunction. A double-lumen catheter w...

OBJECTIVE to evaluate the conformity of the assistential practice in the maintenance of the temporary double-lumen catheter for hemodialysis, by means of the use of the process indicator, in the University Hospital of the University of São Paulo. METHOD a quantitative, exploratory-descriptive and observational study. The sample was made up of 155 observations of persons with temporary double-...
متن کاملClosed External End Double J Catheter as a Nephrostent in Pyeloplasty for Infants with Uretero-Pelvic Junction Obstruction
Uretero-Pelvic Junction Obstruction (UPJO) is a common congenital anomaly that may need pyeloplasty to prevent renal function deterioration. The purpose of this study was to describe a modified use of jj stent catheter in pyeloplasty for infant with UPJO. A series of 12 children, between 3 and 10 months, underwent stenting open pyeloplasty. In each patient a 6 French Foley catheter was placed w...
متن کاملExit of catheter lock solutions from double lumen acute haemodialysis catheters--an in vitro study.
BACKGROUND Double lumen dialysis catheters are routinely heparin or citrate 'locked' to maintain patency. Heparin lock-related bleeding episodes and antibiotic lock-related toxicity have been reported. The aim of this study is to quantify the amount of leak during 'lock' procedures and to compare leakage for different double lumen dialysis catheters. METHODS In an experimental, in vitro study...
