1. Preparation of the patient Unlike in the past, we no longer perform a bowel lavage even when a rectum resection/anastomosis must be performed. The patient takes, two or four bisacodyl tablets depending from her weight the day before surgery. The classical bowel lavage with few liters of fluid has been abandoned. 2.
