Extended empirical likelihood for estimating equations

چکیده

We derive an extended empirical likelihood for parameters defined by estimating equations which generalizes the original empirical likelihood for such parameters to the full parameter space. Under mild conditions, the extended empirical likelihood has all asymptotic properties of the original empirical likelihood. Its contours retain the data-driven shape of the latter. It can also 10 attain the second order accuracy. The first order extended empirical likelihood is easy-to-use yet it is substantially more accurate than other empirical likelihoods, including second order ones. We recommend it for practical applications of the empirical likelihood method.

Estimation of Parameters for an Extended Generalized Half Logistic Distribution Based on Complete and Censored Data

This paper considers an Extended Generalized Half Logistic distribution. We derive some properties of this distribution and then we discuss estimation of the distribution parameters by the methods of moments, maximum likelihood and the new method of minimum spacing distance estimator based on complete data. Also, maximum likelihood equations for estimating the parameters based on Type-I and Typ...

Penalized Empirical Likelihood and Growing Dimensional General Estimating Equations

When a parametric likelihood function is not specified for a model, estimating equations provide an instrument for statistical inference. Qin & Lawless (1994) illustrated that empirical likelihood makes optimal use of these equations in inferences for fixed (low) dimensional unknown parameters. In this paper, we study empirical likelihood for general estimating equations with growing (high) dim...

Empirical Likelihood for Estimating Equations with Missing Values

We consider an empirical likelihood inference for parameters defined by general estimating equations when some components of the random observations are subject to missingness. As the nature of the estimating equations is wide-ranging, we propose a nonparametric imputation of the missing values from a kernel estimator of the conditional distribution of the missing variable given the always obse...

Censored Empirical Likelihood with Over-determined Hazard-type Constraints

Qin and Lawless (1994) studied the empirical likelihood method with general estimating equations. They obtained very nice asymptotic properties especially when the number of estimation equations exceeds the number of parameters (over determined case). We study here a parallel setup to Qin and Lawless but uses a hazard-type estimating equations. The empirical likelihood we use here is also formu...

On the application of extended quasi- likelihood to the clustered data case

The author describes the relationship between the extended generalized estimating equations (EGEEs) of Hall & Severini (1998) and various similar methods. He proposes a true extended quasi-likelihood approach for the clustered data case and explores restricted maximum likelihood-like versions of the EGEE and extended quasi-likelihood estimating equations. He also presents simulation results com...
