We present a simple first order analysis comparing three dynamic location update schemes that have been proposed for mobility management in cellular networks. The analysis is used to compare the relative performance of the three schemes and to illustrate the tradeoff between the costs of frequent location updates and paging.
Location management schemes continue to be a topic of major research. Especially with the upcoming 3G, 4G and wireless LAN technologies, which will bring better services to the mobile users, it is anticipated that the mobile user population would continue to increase. Location ma
This paper studies the location management problem in cellular wireless networks. We propose a HandoffVelocity Prediction (HVP) scheme to minimize the paging cost in searching a mobile terminal. HVP is based on the assumptions that the movement behavior of mobile terminals has te
In this work we explicitly provide the first ever optimal, with respect to the Zheng-Tse diversity multiplexing gain (D-MG) tradeoff, cooperative diversity schemes for wireless relay networks. The schemes are based on variants of perfect space-time codes and are optimal for any n
In the modern era, cellular communication consumers are exponentially increasing as they find the system more user-friendly. Due to enormous users and their numerous demands, it has become a mandate to make the best use of the limited radio resources that assures the highest stan
