Rheumatoid synovitis and joint disease. Relationship between arthroscopic and histological changes.

چکیده
Arthroscopic and histological synovial features have been studied in forty-two patients with classical or definite rheumatoid arthritis. A total index of disease activity as judged arthroscopically correlates significantly with a total index of histological activity. In those patients who have dense, waxy looking villi, the intensity of the villus-proliferation is associated with lymphocytic infiltration of the synovium. No relationship between synovial lining cell proliferation and cartilage disease nor between sparsity of lymphocyte infiltration and cartilage disease could be established.

Knee joint synovitis: study of correlations and diagnostic performances of ultrasonography compared with histopathology
Objectives Ultrasonography (US) is a fast, available and low-cost imaging tool used for detecting knee synovitis. Our aims were to assess the relationship between US and histology findings in appraising levels of inflammation and vascularity in the knee joint in subjects with inflammatory arthropathies; to determine whether differences exist in the appraisal between varying knee compartments an...
متن کاملCorrelation between Serum Levels of Calprotectin with Disease Activity in Rheumatoid Arthritis Patients
Background and Objective: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disease defined by chronic synovitis and progressive joint destruction. This study investigated calprotectin as a serological marker in the hope of establishing an adequate means of diagnosing RA and following up on patients. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study included 32 RA patients who were referred to the rh...

INTRODUCTION Pigmented Villonodular Synovitis (PVNS) of knee joint is a rare disorder of Synovium. Hip and knee joint are commonly affected joints. The knee PVNS presents as a localized or diffuse form. Diagnosis if often delayed and permanent joint damage occurs with advanced disease. Ultrasound examination shows fluid collection and synovial hypertrophy. Magnetic resonance imaging helps in cl...
