Modified upper and lower probabilities based on imprecise likelihoods

چکیده
The large sample behaviour is examined for upper and lower probabilities generated by precise priors on a nite set and imprecise likelihoods for equally in dependently distributed variables taking values in a nite set It can easily happen that the posterior up per probability of will tend to in situations where the relative frequencies are tending to a measure far removed from the set of conditional measures associ ated with A number of di erent modi cations to upper and lower probability are made in such a way that the posterior probabilities will with probability one become or tend to in such situations these all involve rejecting measures which are extremely im plausible given the data and hence considering more restricted sets of likelihoods

Efficiency distribution and expected efficiencies in DEA with imprecise data
Several methods have been proposed for ranking the decision-making units (DMUs) in data envelopment analysis (DEA) with imprecise data. Some methods have only used the upper bound efficiencies to rank DMUs. However, some other methods have considered both of the lower and upper bound efficiencies to rank DMUs. The current paper shows that these methods did not consider the DEA axioms and may be...
متن کاملImprecise Probabilities
Consider the uncertainty about whether it will rain in Brisbane next weekend. A weather forecaster may be able to assess a precise probability of rain, such as 0.3285 . . . , although even an expert should feel uncomfortable about specifying a probability to more than one or two decimal places. Someone who has little information about the prospects for rain may be able to make only an imprecise...
متن کاملComputing upper and lower bounds on likelihoods in intractable networks
We present deterministic techniques for com puting upper and lower bounds on marginal probabilities in sigmoid and noisy-OR net works. These techniques become useful when the size of the network (or clique size) pre cludes exact computations. We illustrate the tightness of the bounds by numerical experi ments.
متن کاملHuman reasoning with imprecise probabilities: Modus ponens and denying the antecedent
The modus ponens (A → B, A ∴ B) is, along with modus tollens and the two logically not valid counterparts denying the antecedent (A → B,¬A ∴ ¬B) and affirming the consequent, the argument form that was most often investigated in the psychology of human reasoning. The present contribution reports the results of three experiments on the probabilistic versions of modus ponens and denying the antec...
متن کاملFinite Element Structural Analysis using Imprecise Probabilities Based on P-Box Representation
Imprecise probability identifies a number of various mathematical frameworks for making decisions when precise probabilities (or PDF) are not known. Imprecise probabilities are normally associated with epistemic sources of uncertainty where the available knowledge is insufficient to construct precise probabilities. While there is no “unified theory of imprecise probabilities”, most frameworks d...
