Long noncoding RNAs in erythropoiesis.

چکیده
In this issue of Blood, Alvarez-Dominguez et al use a combination of genomics technology, bioinformatics, and functional analyses to provide new insights into our understanding of the role of long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) in erythropoiesis.1 This is an initial step forward in our understanding of the many roles of lncRNAs in normal and perturbed erythropoiesis. lncRNAs have recently emerged as critical, multifunctional regulators of cellular gene expression.

A new 'Linc' between noncoding RNAs and blood development.
Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are a large and diverse class of functional RNAs that regulate important biological processes, including cell division, survival, and differentiation. In this issue of Genes & Development, Hu and colleagues (2573-2578) report the discovery of LincRNA erythroid prosurvival (LincRNA-EPS), a murine lncRNA that facilitates red blood cell formation (erythropoiesis) by s...
متن کاملLong noncoding RNA-mediated anti-apoptotic activity in murine erythroid terminal differentiation.
Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are differentially expressed under both normal and pathological conditions, implying that they may play important biological functions. Here we examined the expression of lncRNAs during erythropoiesis and identified an erythroid-specific lncRNA with anti-apoptotic activity. Inhibition of this lncRNA blocks erythroid differentiation and promotes apoptosis. Conversel...
متن کاملAssociation between Long Noncoding RNA ANRIL Expression Variants and Susceptibility to Coronary Artery Disease
Animal cells possess thousands of long non-coding (lnc) RNAs, such as antisense noncoding RNA in the INK4 locus (ANRIL) , which have regulatory roles in the cells’ molecular mechanisms, including X-chromosome inactivation, and developmental processes. These lnc RNAs are known to influence the extensive spectrum of age-related disorders. Accordingly, there is evidence for the role of...
متن کاملStudy of Long Noncoding RNA FER1L4 and RB1, as Its Competing Endogenous RNA Network Target Gene, in Breast Cancer
Introduction: Breast cancer is the second most common cause of cancer-related death among females, which requires an exploration for markers to propose a more specific categorization of this cancer. Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs), the main subset of noncoding transcripts, are involved in tumorigenic processes. In this study, we investigated the expression of the fer-1–like family member 4 (FER...
متن کاملData in support of transcriptional regulation and function of Fas-antisense long noncoding RNA during human erythropoiesis
This paper describes data related to a research article titled, "Fas-antisense long noncoding RNA is differentially expressed during maturation of human erythrocytes and confers resistance to Fas-mediated cell death" [1]. Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are increasingly appreciated for their capacity to regulate many steps of gene expression. While recent studies suggest that many lncRNAs are fun...
