Changes in hypertensinase and hypertensinogen following nephrectomy.

چکیده
The hypertensinase content of dog's plasma is decreased 4S hours after nephrectomy. This decrease may contribute to the increased blood pressure response to renin shown by nephrectomized animals. When plasma is incubated with a relatively small concentration of renin, the yield of hypertensin increases after nephrectomy. This finding correlates with decreased hypertensinase and the increased pressor response to renin characteristic of the postnephrectomy state. Mean plasma hypertensinogen shows about a threefold increase, and its significance is discussed.

The isolation of hypertensin from the circulating blood of dogs by dialysis in an artificial kidney.
T HE PRESENT VIEW of the mode of development of experimental renal hypertension' is that a chemical mechanism causes the elevation of the blood pressure. The components of this mechanism are the renal enzyme, renin, its plasma substrate, hypertensinogen, and the vasopressor substance, hypertensin, resulting from the interaction of renin and hypertensinogen. It is of paramount importance for the...
متن کاملStudies on Plant Hypertensinase
Many plants contain an enzyme similar in most biological properties to the hypertensinase obtained from blood and some animal tissues, notably kidney and intestinal mucosa. Wheat bran is a rich source of the plant hypertensinase, and from it a potent, non-toxic preparation was made by the use of isoelectric and ammonium sulfate precipitation as the means of purification. Hypertensinase derived ...
متن کاملCauses of Nephrectomy in Shiraz City in 1397
Introduction: Nephrectomy is the last step in the treatment of renal disease and has several causes. Removing the kidney tissue is a great blow to the patient's health. The purpose of this study was to survey the causes of nephrectomy in 2018 in Shiraz. Material and methods: A total of 78 records of nephrectomy were reviewed in 2018 at Shiraz Namazi Hospital. The records were removed from the ...
متن کاملTraumatic Shock. Vi. the Effect of Hemorrhagic Shock on the Concentration of Renin and Hypertensinogen in the Plasma in Unanesthetized Dogs.
Recent investigations have suggested that the renal enzyme, renin, plays a homeostatic role in the maintenance of normal blood pressure, since its concentration in the blood increases in a variety of hypotensive states, including shock due to hemorrhage (1 to 5). It seemed desirable to re-study this phenomenon in unanesthetized animals in order to avoid the complicating factor of anesthesia and...
متن کاملChanges in Lipid Content of Serum and of Liver following Bilateral Renal Ablation or Ureteral Ligation
1. In the dog and monkey bilateral nephrectomy or ureteral ligation results in a marked, progressive increase of total fatty acids, of free and esterified cholesterol, of phospholipid, and of free fat of serum. 2. No such changes follow unilateral nephrectomy, splenectomy, or fasting. 3. The increase after bilateral nephrectomy is not inhibited by glucose administration. 4. A marked increase of...
