Operator product expansion and analyticity

چکیده
We discuss the current use of the operator-product expansion in QCD calculations. Treating the OPE as an expansion in inverse powers of an energy-squared variable (with possible exponential terms added), approximating the vacuum expectation value of the operator product by several terms and assuming a bound on the remainder along the euclidean region, we observe how the bound varies with increasing deflection from the euclidean ray down to the cut (Minkowski region). We argue that the assumption that the remainder is constant for all angles in the cut complex plane down to the Minkowski region is not justified. Making specific assumptions on the properties of the expanded function, we obtain bounds on the remainder in explicit form and show that they are very sensitive both to the deflection angle and to the class of functions considered. The results obtained are discussed in connection with calculations of the coupling constant αs from the τ decay. PACS numbers: 11.15.Tk, 12.38.Lg, 13.35.Dx

QCD Tests from Tau Decays
The total τ hadronic width can be accurately calculated using analyticity and the operator product expansion. The theoretical analysis of this observable is updated to include all available perturbative and non-perturbative corrections. The experimental determination of αs(M 2 τ) and its actual uncertainties are discussed.

متن کاملPartial decay widths of baryons in the spin-momentum operator expansion method
The cross sections for photoand pion-induced production of baryon resonances and their partial decay widths to the two–body and multi–body final states are calculated in the framework of the operator expansion method. The approach is fully relativistic invariant, and it allows us to perform combined analyses of different reactions imposing directly the analyticity and unitarity constraints. All...

Using recent precise hadronic τ -decay data on the V −A spectral function and general properties of QCD such as analyticity, the operator product expansion (OPE) and chiral perturbation theory (χPT), we get accurate values for the QCD chiral order parameters Lr10 and C r 87. At order p 4 we obtain Lr10(Mρ) = −(5.22± 0.06) · 10 , whereas at order p we get Lr10(Mρ) = −(4.06 ± 0.39) · 10 −3 and C ...
