From Answer Set Logic Programming to Circumscription via Logic of GK

چکیده
We rst embed Pearce s equilibrium logic and Ferraris s propositional general logic programs in Lin and Shoham s logic of GK a nonmonotonic modal logic that has been shown to include as special cases both Reiter s default logic in the propositional case and Moore s autoepistemic logic From this embedding we obtain a mapping from Ferraris s propositional general logic programs to circumscription and show that this mapping can be used to check the strong equivalence between two propo sitional logic programs in classical logic We also show that Ferraris s propositional general logic programs can be extended to the rst order case and our mapping from Ferraris s propositional general logic programs to circumscription can be ex tended to the rst order case as well to provide a semantics for these rst order general logic programs

First-Order Semantics of Aggregates in Answer Set Programming Via Modified Circumscription
We provide reformulations and generalizations of both the semantics of logic programs by Faber, Leone and Pfeifer and its extension to arbitrary propositional formulas by Truszczyński. Unlike the previous definitions, our generalizations refer neither to grounding nor to fixpoints, and apply to first-order formulas containing aggregate expressions. Similar to the first-order stable model semant...
متن کاملFrom Default and Autoepistemic Logics to Disjunctive Answer Set Programs via the Logic of GK
We show how the pure logic of GK can be embedded into disjunctive logic programming. The translation we present is polynomial, but not modular, and introduces new variables. The result can then be used to compute the extension/expansion semantics of default and autoepistemic logics using disjunctive ASP solvers.
متن کاملA New Perspective on Stable Models
The definition of a stable model has provided a declarative semantics for Prolog programs with negation as failure and has led to the development of answer set programming. In this paper we propose a new definition of that concept, which covers many constructs used in answer set programming (including disjunctive rules, choice rules and conditional literals) and, unlike the original definition,...
متن کاملClassical Logic Event Calculus as Answer Set Programming
Recently, Ferraris, Lee and Lifschitz presented a generalized definition of a stable model that applies to the syntax of arbitrary firstorder sentences, under which a logic program is viewed as a special class of first-order sentences. The new definition of a stable model is similar to the definition of circumscription, and can even be characterized in terms of circumscription. In this paper, w...
متن کاملTranslating First-Order Theories into Logic Programs
This paper focuses on computing first-order theories under either stable model semantics or circumscription. A reduction from first-order theories to logic programs under stable model semantics over finite structures is proposed, and an embedding of circumscription into stable model semantics is also given. Having such reduction and embedding, reasoning problems represented by first-order theor...
