Conformal Fixed Points of Unidentified Gauge Theories

چکیده
Soon after the proposal for gauge/strings correspondence [1] and its spectacular implementation in N = 4 Yang-Mills theory [2] (which was also based on the earlier findings [3]) it has been suggested that some nonsupersymmetric gauge theories may become conformal at a fixed coupling [4,5]. The conjecture was based on the one loop estimate of the β function in the AdSp ⊗ Sq sigma model in the non-critical string (p + q < 10). The effective equations of motion have been shown to have a solution with a particular values of the radii of AdSp and Sq . Unfortunately this regime takes place at the curvatures of the order of the string scale where the one loop approximation can be used only as an order of magnitude estimate. Still, the counting of the parameters in [5] makes this result plausible. More recently this conjecture was discussed in the zero dimensional model [6]. In this letter I will take the next step and give further arguments that the above sigma models are conformal. They are also shown to be completely integrable. The bosonic part of the AdS sigma model is the familiar action for the unit vector field ~n which in this case is hyperbolic, satisfying the relation ~n2 = −1 This hyperboloid is embedded in the p + 1 dimensional flat space with the signature (p, 1) or (p− 1, 2) depending on whether the dual gauge theory is assumed to be in the Euclidean or Minkowskian spaces. Ultraviolet Fixed Points in Gauge and SUSY Field Theories in Extra Dimensions
We consider gauge field theories in D > 4 following the Wilson RG approach and show that they possess the ultraviolet fixed points where the gauge coupling is dimensionless in any space-time dimension. At the fixed point the anomalous dimensions of the field and vertex operators are known exactly. These fixed points are nonperturbative and correspond to conformal invariant theories. The same ph...
متن کاملT-duality and Gauge Theories from Near Horizon Dp-branes
We study the significance of T-duality in the context of the gravitational description of gauge theories. We found that T-duality relates the deferents points of the moduli of a given gauge theory always far from the conformal fixed point. Also the described gauge theories seems to flow naturally to the able conformal points, those that naturally saturate all the possible known examples of near...
متن کاملIrreversibility and Higher-spin Conformal Field Theory
I discuss the properties of the central charges c and a for higher-derivative and higher-spin theories (spin 2 included). Ordinary gravity does not admit a straightforward identification of c and a in the trace anomaly, because it is not conformal. On the other hand, higherderivative theories can be conformal, but have negative c and a. A third possibility is to consider higher-spin conformal f...
متن کاملLarge-N volume independence in conformal and confining gauge theories
Consequences of large N volume independence are examined in conformal and confining gauge theories. In the large N limit, gauge theories compactified on Rd−k × (S) are independent of the S radii, provided the theory has unbroken center symmetry. In particular, this implies that a large N gauge theory which, on R, flows to an IR fixed point, retains the infinite correlation length and other scal...

We propose a novel RG method to specify the location of the IR fixed point in lattice gauge theories and apply it to the SU(3) gauge theories with Nf fundamental fermions. It is based on the scaling behavior of the propagator through the RG analysis with a finite IR cut-off, which we cannot remove in the conformal field theories in sharp contrast with the confining theories. The method also ena...
