Orthogonal Beamforming in SDMA Downlink with Limited Feedback
نویسندگان
چکیده
On a multi-antenna downlink channel, separation of multiple users by transmit beamforming enables simultaneous transmission from the base station to the users, resulting in very high throughput. This paper proposes and analyzes a practical scheme for joint orthogonal beamforming and scheduling, which is enabled by feedback of quantized channel state information. In this approach, the base station generates multiple sets of orthogonal beamforming vectors and associates each vector with a specific user. Subsequently, the base station selects one set of beamforming vectors and the associated users for downlink transmission such that the throughput is maximized. Unlike the optimal approach, the proposed scheme has computational complexity that increases only linearly with the number of users since it does not require an exhaustive search over all possible subsets of users.

Joint Beamforming and Scheduling for SDMA Systems with Limited Feedback
On a multi-antenna broadcast (downlink) channel, simultaneous transmission to multiple users is capable of achieving very high throughput. Unfortunately, the optimal approach for such multi-user transmission, namely dirty paper coding, is highly complicated. Therefore, this paper proposes a practical joint beamforming and scheduling scheme that is enabled by feedback of quantized channel state ...
متن کاملOpportunistic Scheduling and Beamforming Schemes for MIMO-SDMA Downlink Systems with Linear Combining
Opportunistic scheduling and beamforming schemes are proposed for multiuser MIMO-SDMA downlink systems with linear combining in this work. Signals received from all antennas of each mobile terminal (MT) are linearly combined to improve the effective signal-to-noise-interference ratios (SINRs). By exploiting limited feedback on the effective SINRs, the base station (BS) schedules simultaneous da...

The downlink minimum bit error rate (MBER) transmit beamforming is directly designed based on the uplink MBER receive beamforming solution for time division duplex (TDD) space-division multiple-access (SDMA) induced multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems, where the base station (BS) is equipped with multiple antennas to support multiple single-antenna mobile terminals (MTs). It is shown ...
متن کاملResource Allocation in Multi-Antenna Communication Systems with Limited Feedback
The use of multiple transmit antennas is considered a key ingredient to significantly improve the spectral efficiency of wireless communication systems beyond that of currently employed systems. Transmit beamforming schemes have been proposed to exploit the spatial characteristics of multi-antenna radio channels; that is, multiple-input single-output (MISO) channels. In multiuser communication ...

We consider a multi-user Multiple-Input Single-Output downlink broadcast channel with Gaussian inputs using Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing for the air interface. By applying linear preprocessing techniques such as beamforming at the Base Station, spatial information of the users in a radio cell can be exploited and multi-user interference can be reduced. The performance of this prep...
