Searching for dynamical fermion effects in UKQCD simulations

چکیده

Computing resources available for simulations of lattice QCD are now powerful enough to investigate unquenching effects. UKQCD has embarked on a programme of studying these effects in the light hadron spectrum, static quark potential, glueball spectrum and topological sectors. The purpose of this paper is to investigate unquenching effects in the first of these areas. It is well known that the lattice cut-off is a function of both the gauge coupling, β, and dynamical quark mass, m (see e.g. [1]). For this reason, the philosophy we have chosen is to simulate at points along the “matched” trajectory in the (β, m) plane i.e. defined byfixed lattice spacing, a. This then disentangles lattice spacing artefacts with unquenching effects. Any variation of a physical quantity along this trajectory can sensibly be attributed to unquenching effects rather than lattice systematics. This work has been published in full in [2].

Effects of Dynamical Quarks in UKQCD Simulations

Recent results from the UKQCD Collaboration’s dynamical simulations are presented. The main feature of these ensembles is that they have a fixed lattice spacing and volume, but varying sea quark mass from infinite (corresponding to the quenched simulation) down to roughly that of the strange quark mass. The main aim of this work is to uncover dynamical quark effects from these “matched” ensembl...

Improved Wilson QCD simulations at light quark masses

Since 1997, UKQCD has been conducting dynamical fermion simulations on a Cray T3E machine using typically 128 processors (35 Gflops sustained). This has permitted production studies on lattices up to 16×32 and mπ/mρ down to around 0.60 [1]. Study groups within the collaboration are now planning physics programmes for the advent of the QCDOC multi-Teraflops machine which is expected to be our ma...

The static quark potential for dynamical domain wall fermion simulations

We present preliminary results for the static quark potential computed on some of the DWF lattice configurations generated by the RBC-UKQCD collaborations. Most of these results were obtained using Wilson lines joining spatial planes fixed into the Coulomb gauge. We compare the results from this method with the earlier ones on 163 × 32 lattices using Bresenham spatial paths with APE smeared lin...

Domain Wall Fermion simulations by the RBC and UKQCD collaborations

We review simulations of dynamical domain wall fermions at a fixed inverse lattice spacing of 1.73GeV and with pion masses as light as 330MeV and spatial dimensions as large as 2.7fm performed by the RBC and UKQCD collaborations. These results include pseudoscalar masses and decay constants and low energy constants of the chiral effective lagrangian. We also review results for the neutral kaon ...

Lattice QCD with Dynamical Quarks from the UKQCD Collaboration

A brief overview of the lattice technique of studying QCD is presented. Recent results from the UKQCD Collaboration’s simulations with dynamical quarks are then presented. In this work, the calculations are all at a fixed lattice spacing and volume, but varying sea quark mass from infinite (corresponding to the quenched simulation) down to roughly that of the strange quark mass. The main aim of...
