چکیده

A configurable architecture for performing image transform algorithms is presented that provides a better tradeoff between low complexity and algorithm flexibility than either software-programmable processors or dedicated ASIC’s. The configurable processor unit requires only 110 K transistors and can execute several image transform algorithms. By emulating the signal flow of the algorithms in hardware, rather than software, complexity is reduced by an order of magnitude compared with current software programmable video signal processors, while providing more flexibility than single function ASIC’s. The processor has been fabricated in 1.2m CMOS and has been successfully used to execute the discrete cosine transform/inverse discrete cosine transform (DCT/IDCT), subband coding, vector quantization, and two-dimensional filtering algorithms at pixel rates up to 25 MPixels/s.

Designing A Re-Configurable Fractional Fourier Transform Architecture Using Systolic Array

FRFT (Fractional Fourier Transforms) algorithm, which has been derived from DFT, computes the angular domains within the time and frequency domains. This algorithm is increasingly used in the field of signal filtering, quantum mechanics and optical physics. In this paper we develop an efficient, systolic, reconfigurable architecture for a particular type of FRFT called MA-CDFRFT (Multi Angle Ce...

Configurable Soft Processor Arrays Using the OpenFire Processor

Single-chip multiprocessor systems, while requiring significantly less design effort than custom hardware solutions, fall behind custom RTL in performance. In an effort to decrease this performance gap, the individual processors in an array can be tailored to their specific application. In this paper we present the OpenFire, a Xilinx MicroBlaze-compatible processor designed for configurable arr...

Fast Cellular Automata Implementation on Graphic Processor Unit (GPU) for Salt and Pepper Noise Removal

Noise removal operation is commonly applied as pre-processing step before subsequent image processing tasks due to the occurrence of noise during acquisition or transmission process. A common problem in imaging systems by using CMOS or CCD sensors is appearance of  the salt and pepper noise. This paper presents Cellular Automata (CA) framework for noise removal of distorted image by the salt an...

A Configurable Floating-Point Discrete Hilbert Transform Processor for Accelerating the Calculation of Filter in Katsevich Formula

Katsevich formula is currently a hot topic for cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). The filter in the formula can be computed by a regular discrete Hilbert transform (DHT). A configurable single precision floating-point (SPFP) DHT processor is proposed for accelerating the calculation of filter in Katsevich formula. The configurable processor is of memory based architecture with one pipelined ...

DPML-Risk: An Efficient Algorithm for Image Registration

Targets and objects registration and tracking in a sequence of images play an important role in various areas. One of the methods in image registration is feature-based algorithm which is accomplished in two steps. The first step includes finding features of sensed and reference images. In this step, a scale space is used to reduce the sensitivity of detected features to the scale changes. Afterw...
