Environment Independent Implementation of a Software Framework for Fast Local and Geographically Distributed Hybrid Simulations

چکیده
Hybrid simulation provides a versatile, realistic and cost-effective method for simulating dynamic response experimentally. Although hybrid simulation is undergoing widespread development worldwide, each site generally follows a different approach to implementation, which impedes researchers from effectively collaborating. It is especially difficult to perform important geographically distributed experiments that can take advantage of unique experimental, computational and intellectual resources worldwide. This paper describes the continuing evolution and several real-time applications of the Open-source Framework for Experimental Setup and Control (OpenFresco), an object oriented, environment independent software framework which is based on a systems analysis of the operations needed to perform local as well as geographically distributed hybrid simulations. OpenFresco’s software architecture is explained in detail. Examples of rapid (including soft realtime) local and geographically distributed hybrid simulations, using OpenFresco in combination with different finite element analysis software packages, are presented along with the current development status and future possible improvements.

Fast Hybrid Simulation with Geographically Distributed Substructures
A distributed control strategy is presented that supports the implementation of hybrid (pseudodynamic) testing with geographically distributed substructures. The objectives of the distributed controller are: (1) to provide a scalable framework for multiple substructure testing at distributed sites and (2) to improve the reliability of the test results by minimizing strain-rate and force relaxat...
متن کاملObject-based Design Modeling and Optimization with Genetic Algorithms
DOME (Distributed Object-based Modeling Environment) is a software framework for product design system modeling where designers are distributed geographically and make use of different software tools. Designers develop their own local software components, and distributed object technology is used to integrate their services via the Internet to form an overall system model. Designers can then ex...
متن کاملA Combining centralised and distributed testing
Many systems interact with their environment at distributed interfaces (ports) and sometimes it is not possible to place synchronised local testers at the ports of the system under test (SUT). There are then two main approaches to testing: having independent local testers or a single centralised tester that interacts asynchronously with the SUT. The power of using independent testers has been c...
متن کاملA Novel Hybrid Droop-Isochronous Control Strategy for Microgrid Management
The droop control strategy is the most common approach for microgrids control but its application is limited due to frequency deviation following a load change. Complementary control strategy has then been proposed to solve the problem using a communication network. However, under this strategy, regular loads profile produces a continuous change of output power of all distributed generators (DG...
متن کاملThe Abels System: Designing an Adaptable Interface for Linking Simulations
We have developed a framework for using software agent technology for linking distributed simulations and other data resources. The Agent-Based Environment for Linking Simulations (ABELS) framework uses software agents to coordinate distributed simulations, communicate data efficiently between simulations, and retrieve data from other sources such as sensors and datasets. ABELS allows simulatio...
