Prospects for a lattice computation of rare kaon decay amplitudes II K → πνν̄ decays

چکیده
The rare kaon decays K → πνν̄ are strongly suppressed in the standard model and widely regarded as processes in which new phenomena, not predicted by the standard model, may be observed. Recognizing such new phenomena requires precise standard model prediction for the braching ratio of K → πνν̄ with controlled uncertainty for both short-distance and long-distance contributions. In this work we demonstrate the feasibility of lattice QCD calculation of the longdistance contribution to rare kaon decays with the emphasis on K+ → π+νν̄. Our methodology covers the calculation of both W -W and Z-exchange diagrams. We discuss the estimation of the power-law, finite-volume corrections and two methods to consistently combine the long distance contribution determined by the lattice methods outlined here with the short distance parts that can be reliably determined using perturbation theory. It is a subsequent work of our first methodology paper on K → π`+`−, where the focus was made on the γ-exchange diagrams. 1 ar X iv :1 60 5. 04 44 2v 1 [ he pla t] 1 4 M ay 2 01 6

Rare Kaon Decays – Overview
The theory of rare K decays is reviewed, emphasizing short-distance processes and the prospects to probe the physics of flavour. A brief overview of the subject is presented, along with a more detailed discussion of the theory of K → πνν̄ decays. Invited Talk presented at KAON 2001 International Conference on CP Violation, Pisa, 12-17 June 2001
متن کاملInclusive Rare B Decays
We review the present status of rare B decays, focusing on inclusive decay modes and their role in our search for new physics. We also briefly discuss direct CP violation in rare B decays and the rare kaon decays K → πνν̄ and KL → πνν̄, which offer complementary opportunities for precision flavour physics. Based on invited talks given at the 8th International Conference on Supersymmetries in Phys...
متن کاملNon-leptonic and rare kaon decays in lattice QCD
I review the research programme of the RBC-UKQCD collaborations in kaon physics, focussing the discussion on physical quantities which had not been computed previously in lattice simulations. I start with a summary of our recent calculation of the amplitude A2 for K → (ππ)I=2 decays at physical masses and kinematics in which we are able to reproduce the experimental result for Re A2 and to dete...
متن کاملK → πνν̄ from standard to new physics
Flavour changing neutral current decays are a very sensitive test of the standard model and its extensions. In particular the decay K → πνν̄ constitutes a clean way to provide constraints, independent of long distance effects. Motivated by the recent experimental data of the E787 and E865 collaborations and by the difference between the standard model prediction and data, we consider in detail n...
متن کاملRare Kaon Decays on the Lattice
We show that long distance contributions to the rare decays K → πνν̄ and K → πll can be computed using lattice QCD. The proposed approach requires well established methods, successfully applied in the calculations of electromagnetic and semileptonic form factors. The extra power divergences, related to the use of weak four-fermion operators, can be eliminated using only the symmetries of the lat...
