چکیده
SAND (Spatial and Non-spatial Data) is an interactive environment that enables the development of spatial database applications. It was designed as a tool for rapid prototyping of algorithms and query evaluation plans dealing with spatial and nonspatial data. In this paper we give an overview of SAND's architecture and illustrate how typical spatial and non-spatial queries can be processed by means of short code fragments.

Experience with SAND-Tcl: a scripting tool for spatial databases
The use of scripting makes it possible to overcome many important difficulties in the development of database applications. By extending a general-purpose scripting language with constructs derived both from the database kernel and from the intended application domain, issues such as query processing and user interfacing can be approached in an economical and flexible way. This is illustrated b...
متن کاملSpatial dynamics of Phlebotomus sand-fly ecological condition in response to climate change
Background: Changing the climatic pattern can lead to major changes in the geographical distribution of infectious diseases. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of climate change on the favorable bio-climatological zone for leishmaniasis sand-fly living which is a vector of Leishmania in Iran. Materials and Methods: Data of the climatic factors affecting the biology of sandflies...
متن کاملMORPHODYNAMIC ANLYSIS OF WIND FACES USING SPATIAL SAND ROSE MODEL IN ZABOL AND ZAHAK REGION, IRAN
The majority of Iran’s area is covered by arid and semiarid climates. In these areas, wind causes more erosion compared to water. Therefore, determination of wind characteristics especially its velocity is very important. One of the simplest methods that can supply researchers with the origin of wind erosion in the shortest time is synthesizing sand rose model and interpretation of aerial photo...
متن کاملAccessing Diverse Geo-Referenced Data Sources with the SAND Spatial DBMS
The Internet has become the most frequently accessed medium for obtaining various types of data. In particular, government agencies, academic institutions, and private enterprises have published gigabytes of geo-referenced data on the Web. However, to obtain geo-referenced data from the Web successfully, systems must be designed to be capable of understanding the data sets published in differen...
متن کاملPredicting of Temporal-Spatial Sand Dunes Transition Caused by Marine Storms (Case Study: The Coast of Makran, Iran)
Studies show that 14 provinces are impacted by wind erosion and the movement of sand dunes. The sand originated from the shores of Oman Sea is the most important environmental hazards that threaten the already large number of rural settlements. Sands of marine origin are available on the beach and away from the sea of dunes in addition of marine origin, Predictive models for planning sustainab...
