چکیده

A key problem of modular neural networks is finding the optimal aggregation of the different subtasks (or modules) of the problem at hand. Functional networks provide a partial solution to this problem, since the inter-module topology is obtained from domain knowledge (functional relationships and symmetries). However, the learning process may be too restrictive in some situations, since the resulting modules (functional units) are assumed to be linear combinations of selected families of functions. In this paper, we present a non-parametric learning approach for functional networks using feedforward neural networks for approximating the functional modules of the resulting architecture; we also introduce a genetic algorithm for finding the optimal intra-module topology (the appropriate balance of neurons for the different modules according to the complexity of their respective tasks). Some benchmark examples from nonlinear time-series prediction are used to illustrate the performance of the algorithm for finding optimal modular network architectures for specific problems.

Evolving Time Series Forecasting Neural Network Models

In the last decade, bio-inspired methods have gained an increasing acceptation as alternative approaches for Time Series Forecasting. Indeed, the use of tools such as Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) and Genetic and Evolutionary Algorithms (GEAs), introduced important features to forecasting models, taking advantage of nonlinear learning and adaptive search. In the present approach, a combinat...

H∞ Sampled-Data Controller Design for Stochastic Genetic Regulatory Networks

Artificially regulating gene expression is an important step in developing new treatment for system-level disease such as cancer. In this paper, we propose a method to regulate gene expression based on sampled-data measurements of gene products concentrations. Inherent noisy behaviour of Gene regulatory networks are modeled with stochastic nonlinear differential equation. To synthesize feed...

Gyroscope Random Drift Modeling, using Neural Networks, Fuzzy Neural and Traditional Time- series Methods

In this paper statistical and time series models are used for determining the random drift of a dynamically Tuned Gyroscope (DTG). This drift is compensated with optimal predictive transfer function. Also nonlinear neural-network and fuzzy-neural models are investigated for prediction and compensation of the random drift. Finally the different models are compared together and their advantages a...

A New Model for Location-Allocation Problem within Queuing Framework

This paper proposes a bi-objective model for the facility location problem under a congestion system. The idea of the model is motivated by applications of locating servers in bank automated teller machines (ATMS), communication networks, and so on. This model can be specifically considered for situations in which fixed service facilities are congested by stochastic demand within queueing frame...
