SUSY Ward identities, Superamplitudes, and Counterterms

چکیده
Ward identities of SUSY and R-symmetry relate n-point amplitudes in supersymmetric theories. We review recent work in which these Ward identities are solved in N = 4 SYM and N = 8 supergravity. The solution, valid at both tree and loop level, expresses any NMHV superamplitude in terms of a basis of ordinary amplitudes. Basis amplitudes are classified by semi-standard tableaux of rectangular N -by-K Young diagrams. The SUSY Ward identities also impose constraints on the matrix elements of candidate ultraviolet counterterms in N = 8 supergravity, and they can be studied using superamplitude basis expansions. This leads to a novel and quite comprehensive matrix element approach to counterterms, which we also review. This article is an invited review for a special issue of Journal of Physics A devoted to “Scattering Amplitudes in Gauge Theories”. ar X iv :1 01 2. 34 01 v2 [ he pth ] 6 J ul 2 01 1

Solution to the Ward Identities for Superamplitudes
Supersymmetry and R-symmetry Ward identities relate on-shell amplitudes in a supersymmetric field theory. We solve these Ward identities for NMHV amplitudes of the maximally supersymmetric N = 4 and N = 8 theories. The resulting superamplitude is written in a new, manifestly supersymmetric and R-invariant form: it is expressed as a sum of very simple SUSY and SU(N )R-invariant Grassmann polynom...
متن کاملA simple approach to counterterms in N=8 supergravity
We present a simple systematic method to study candidate counterterms in N = 8 supergravity. Complicated details of the counterterm operators are avoided because we work with the on-shell matrix elements they produce. All n-point matrix elements of an independent SUSY invariant operator of the form DR + . . . must be local and satisfy SUSY Ward identities. These are strong constraints, and we t...
متن کاملsimplified mass shell renormalization for minimal supersymmetric Higgs sector
We suggest an Aoki-Denner form of renormalization scheme for the physical amplitudes in the minimal SUSY. This practical procedure can accommodate consistently the radiative correction to the mass of the lightest Higgs by differentiating renormalized and physical Higgs mass. The counterterms of β is fixed within Higgs sector and without MS. The gauge-scalar mixing are defined clearly by Ward-Ta...
متن کاملThree point SUSY Ward identities without Ghosts
We utilise a non-local gauge transform which renders the entire action of SUSY QED invariant and respects the SUSY algebra modulo the gauge-fixing condition, to derive twoand three-point ghost-free SUSY Ward identities in SUSY QED. We use the cluster decomposition principle to find the Green’s function Ward identities and then takes linear combinations of the latter to derive identities for the...
متن کاملStability and Renormalization of Yang-Mills theory with Background Field Method: a Regularization Independent Proof
In this paper the stability and the renormalizability of Yang-Mills theory in the Background Field Gauge are studied. By means of Ward Identities of Background gauge invariance and Slavnov-Taylor Identities the stability of the classical model is proved and, in a regularization independent way, its renormalizability is verified. A prescription on how to build the counterterms is given and the p...
