چکیده

This paper provides Neurofeedback training by which the brain learns to function more efficiently. This work aims to provide real-time information to the Central Nervous System as a feedback in the form of visual cues.20 subjects (age between 20 and 30) were trained to improve their concentration and cognitive skill. In this paper, high frequency beta (β) and low frequency theta (θ) components have been extracted from the EEG signals, picked up using single channel electrodes of 10-20 international lead system. The acquired signals are then processed and their power spectral components are integrated. β/θ ratio is calculated and when the desired value is reached, the brain is rewarded in terms of visual cues and music interruption. Problems involving brain deregulations are addressed and concentration of the subject enhances. This procedure is painless, non-invasive, provides permanent results and can be repeated whenever necessary. The training can be done using LabVIEW software. The subject learns to improve areas of mental, physical and emotional functioning. Keywords— Electroencephalography (EEG); beta waves; theta waves; Neurofeedback Training (NFT); Lab VIEW

Effect of Video and Image as Positive Feedback in Neurofeedback for Stressed Elderly

Slowing down of thought, memory and thinking is a normal part of aging. Mental exercise can help the brain to stay sharp. Neurofeedback training is a mental exercise which can improve the cortical activity. The neurofeedback process is a self-regulation training which allows the central nervous system to function better. Neurofeedback training is helpful with certain classes of problem such as ...

Relative Power of Specific EEG Bands and Their Ratios during Neurofeedback Training in Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder

Neurofeedback is a mode of treatment that is potentially useful for improving self-regulation skills in persons with autism spectrum disorder. We proposed that operant conditioning of EEG in neurofeedback mode can be accompanied by changes in the relative power of EEG bands. However, the details on the change of the relative power of EEG bands during neurofeedback training course in autism are ...

Resting and Initial Beta Amplitudes Predict Learning Ability in Beta/Theta Ratio Neurofeedback Training in Healthy Young Adults

Neurofeedback (NF) training has been proved beneficial in cognitive and behavioral performance improvement in healthy individuals. Unfortunately, the NF learning ability shows large individual difference and in a number of NF studies there are even some non-learners who cannot successfully self-regulate their brain activity by NF. This study aimed to find out the neurophysiological predictor of...

Better than sleep: theta neurofeedback training accelerates memory consolidation.

Consistent empirical results showed that both night and day sleep enhanced memory consolidation. In this study we explore processes of consolidation of memory during awake hours. Since theta oscillations have been shown to play a central role in exchange of information, we hypothesized that elevated theta during awake hours will enhance memory consolidation. We used a neurofeedback protocol, to...

Critical validation studies of neurofeedback.

The field of neurofeedback training has proceeded largely without validation. In this article the authors review studies directed at validating sensory motor rhythm, beta and alpha-theta protocols for improving attention, memory, and music performance in healthy participants. Importantly, benefits were demonstrable with cognitive and neurophysiologic measures that were predicted on the basis of...
