Delayed Rectifier Root Ganglion Cells

چکیده
Whole-cell voltage-clamp recordings were made frem cultured bullfrog dorsal root ganglion cells to examine the channel blocking activity ef 20pM of 1, 9-dideoxy forskolin (d-FSK) on the delayed rectifier potassium current [[he drug reduced the maximum amplitude of the current (10-20 nA at +65 mV) by 40-80%. However, the voltages for 50%-activation (= -12 mV) and for 50%-inactivation (= -37 mV) remained unaffected by d-FSK. These results indicate that tlie channel block by d-FSK oecurs in a voltage-independent manner.

Chronic compression of mouse dorsal root ganglion alters voltage-gated sodium and potassium currents in medium-sized dorsal root ganglion neurons.
Chronic compression (CCD) of the dorsal root ganglion (DRG) is a model of human radicular pain produced by intraforaminal stenosis and other disorders affecting the DRG, spinal nerve, or root. Previously, we examined electrophysiological changes in small-diameter lumbar level 3 (L3) and L4 DRG neurons treated with CCD; the present study extends these observations to medium-sized DRG neurons, wh...
متن کاملKv1.1 channels of dorsal root ganglion neurons are inhibited by n-butyl-p-aminobenzoate, a promising anesthetic for the treatment of chronic pain.
In this study, we investigated the effects of the local anesthetic n-butyl-p-aminobenzoate (BAB) on the delayed rectifier potassium current of cultured dorsal root ganglion (DRG) neurons using the patch-clamp technique. The majority of the K(+) current of small DRG neurons rapidly activates and slowly inactivates at depolarized voltages. BAB inhibited the whole-cell K(+) current of these neuron...
متن کاملAn improved method for patch clamp recording and calcium imaging of neurons in the intact dorsal root ganglion in rats.
The properties of dorsal root ganglion (DRG) neurons have been mostly investigated in culture of dissociated cells, and it is uncertain whether these cells maintain the electrophysiological properties of the intact DRG neurons. Few attempts have been made to record from DRG neurons in the intact ganglion using the patch clamp technique. In this study, rat DRGs were dissected and incubated for a...
متن کاملDelayed-Rectifier K Channels Contribute to Contrast Adaptation in Mammalian Retinal Ganglion Cells
Retinal ganglion cells adapt by reducing their sensitivity during periods of high contrast. Contrast adaptation in the firing response depends on both presynaptic and intrinsic mechanisms. Here, we investigated intrinsic mechanisms for contrast adaptation in OFF Alpha ganglion cells in the in vitro guinea pig retina. Using either visual stimulation or current injection, we show that brief depol...
متن کاملExistence of a delayed rectifier K+ current in the membrane of human embryonic stem cel
Introduction: Human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) are pluripotent cells that can proliferate and differentiate to many cell types. Their electrophysiological properties have not yet been chracterzed. In this study, the passive properties (such as resting membrane potential, input resistance and capacitance) and the contribution of delayed rectifier K+ channel currents to the membrane conducta...
