چکیده

Ants-based routing algorithms have attracted the attention of researchers because they are more robust, reliable, and scalable than other conventional routing algorithms. Since they do not involve extra message exchanges to maintain paths when network topology changes, they are suitable for mobile ad-hoc networks where nodes move dynamically and topology changes frequently. As the number of nodes increases, however, the number of ants (i.e., mobile agents or control messages) also increases and it reduces the scalability of algorithms. In this paper, we propose a scalable ant-based routing algorithm that makes the overhead low while keeping paths short. Our algorithm uses a multistep TTL (Time To Live) scheme, an effective message migration scheme, and an efficient scheme for updating the probability of packet forwarding. Simulation experiments have confirmed that our proposed algorithm can establish shorter paths than the conventional ant-based algorithm with the same signaling overhead.

Design and evaluation of two scalable protocols for location management of mobile nodes in location based routing protocols in mobile Ad Hoc Networks

Heretofore several position-based routing protocols have been developed for mobile ad hoc networks. Many of these protocols assume that a location service is available which provides location information on the nodes in the network. Our solutions decrease location update without loss of query success rate or throughput and even increase those.Simulation results show that our methods are effectiv...

A New Routing Algorithm for Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks based on Glowworm Swarm Optimization Algorithm

Vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) are a particular type of Mobile ad hoc networks (MANET) in which the vehicles are considered as nodes. Due to rapid topology changing and frequent disconnection makes it difficult to design an efficient routing protocol for routing data among vehicles. In this paper, a new routing protocol based on glowworm swarm optimization algorithm is provided. Using the g...

A Position Based Ant Colony Routing Algorithm for Mobile Ad-hoc Networks

Position based routing algorithms use the knowledge of the position of nodes for routing of packets in mobile ad-hoc networks. Previously proposed position based routing algorithms may fail to find a route from a source to a destination in some types of ad-hoc networks and if they find a route, it may be much longer than the shortest path. On the other hand, routing algorithms which are based o...

A New Hybrid Routing Algorithm based on Genetic Algorithm and Simulated Annealing for Vehicular Ad hoc Networks

In recent years, Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks (VANET) as an emerging technology have tried to reduce road damage and car accidents through intelligent traffic controlling. In these networks, the rapid movement of vehicles, topology dynamics, and the limitations of network resources engender critical challenges in the routing process. Therefore, providing a stable and reliable routing algorithm is ...

Routing Algorithms for Mobile Multi-Hop Ad-Hoc Networks

A mobile ad-hoc network (MANET) is a collection of mobile nodes which communicate over radio. These networks have an important advantage, they do not require any existing infrastructure or central administration. Therefore, mobile ad-hoc networks are suitable for temporary communication links. This flexibility, however, comes at a price: communication is difficult to organize due to frequent to...
