Primary mediastinal adenocarcinoma originating from a calcified nodule.

چکیده
Primary mediastinal adenocarcinoma is rare, but its originating from a calcified nodule is even more unusual. We present herein a 55-year-old female with a superior mediastinal mass, first discovered 2 years prior that changed dramatically from its original appearance as a calcified nodule. The mass was completely resected, and histopathological examination revealed a primary adenocarcinoma. The patient has been disease-free for over 13 months since surgery. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first reported case of mediastinal adenocarcinoma to demonstrate such a surprising course of development.

A Case of Calcified Metastatic Colorectal Adenocarcinoma Mimicking a Benign Lesion: Pitfalls in Diagnosis
The radiological finding of a calcified intracranial lesion commonly represents a slow growing benign mass. Brain metastases originating from colorectal cancers are rare, occurring in approximately 2-3% of patients. Therefore the presence of a calcified brain lesion in a patient with a positive oncological history requires a high index of suspicion for brain metastases. Presented herein is a ca...

BACKGROUND Although mediastinal lymph node cancer is presumed to originate in the lung, the primary site is usually unidentified, so the pathological course remains unclear. We recently encountered a case of mediastinal lymph node cancer having a putative primary lesion remaining in the lung as a necrotic focus. CASE PRESENTATION The patient was a 56-year-old man who visited our department be...

Twelve months later, follow-up computed tomography revealed a 1-cm pulmonary nodule on the upper lobe of the right lung and a sol...
متن کاملSuperior Vena Cava Syndrome due to Thrombosis: A Rare Paraneoplastic Presentation of Bronchogenic Carcinoma
Superior vena cava (SVC) syndrome is not an uncommon occurrence in patients with malignancy and it is often described as a medical emergency. In majority of the cases, SVC syndrome occurs due to mechanical obstruction of the SVC by extraluminal compression with primary intrathoracic malignancies. However, intraluminal obstruction due to thrombosis can also produce symptoms and signs of SVC synd...

Intrathyroidal parathyroid carcinoma is extremely rare clinical entity with potentially multiple diagnostic pitfalls. We report a case of 40-year-old man presented with classical manifestations of primary hyperparathyroidism, severe hypercalcemia and profoundly increased serum parathyroid hormone level. Neck ultrasonography demonstrated multinodular goiter with predominant 34 mm nodule in left ...
