Imprimitive Distance-Transitive Graphs with Primitive Core of Diameter at Least 3
A distance-transitive graph G is one upon which the automorphism group acts transitively on ordered pairs of vertices at every fixed distance. Only connected graphs need to be considered. Those of diameter 2 are the rank-3 graphs, whose careful study was initiated by Donald G. Higman in his breakthrough paper [16]. A huge amount of effort has gone into the classification of all finite distancet...
متن کاملAffine distance-transitive graphs and classical groups
This paper finishes the classification of primitive affine distance-transitive graphs by dealing with the only case left open, namely where the generalized Fitting subgroup of the stabilizer of a vertex is a finite quasisimple group of classical Lie type defined over the characteristic dividing the number of vertices of the graph. All graphs that are found to occur are known.
متن کاملFinite vertex-primitive and vertex-biprimitive 2-path-transitive graphs
This paper presents a classification of vertex-primitive and vertex-biprimitive 2-path-transitive graphs which are not 2-arc-transitive. The classification leads to constructions of new examples of half-arc-transitive graphs.
متن کاملAffine Distance-transitive Groups
A fruitful way of studying groups is by means of their actions on graphs. A very special and interesting class of groups are the ones acting distance-transitively on some graph. A group G acting on a connected graph F = (VT, ET) is said to act distance-transitively if its action on each of the sets {(x, y)\ x, y e VT, d(x, y) = i} is transitive. Here VT and ET stand for the vertices and edges o...
متن کاملTHE FINITE VERTEX-PRIMITIVE AND VERTEX-BIPRIMITIVE s-TRANSITIVE GRAPHS FOR s ≥ 4
A complete classification is given for finite vertex-primitive and vertex-biprimitive s-transitive graphs for s ≥ 4. The classification involves the construction of new 4-transitive graphs, namely a graph of valency 14 admitting the Monster simple group M, and an infinite family of graphs of valency 5 admitting projective symplectic groups PSp(4, p) with p prime and p ≡ ±1 (mod 8). As a corolla...
