Antibody titres to Campylobacter pylori after treatment for gastritis.

چکیده
Campylobacter pylorn is strongly associated with histologically confirmed gastritis.1 The most convincing evidence for a pathogenic role of C pylori in gastritis comes from trials of treatment." We investigated the role of C pylorn in dyspeptic patients who had gastritis confirmed by histology by performing a prospective trial with colloidal bismuth subcitrate 240 mg twice daily for four weeks. We also report the titres of antibody to C pylorn before and after treatment.

Campylobacter pylori: clinical, histological, and serological studies.
The presence of Campylobacter pylori, histologically diagnosed gastritis, and antibodies to C pylori were determined in a series of 113 patients undergoing endoscopy. Paired biopsy specimens from the fundus, body, and antrum were collected from 59 patients and from the antrum of 54 patients. The presence of C pylori was confirmed by either culture or silver stain in 30 of 59, 31 of 59, and 54 o...
متن کاملCampylobacterpyloridis in non-ulcer dyspepsia
Antibody titres to Campylobacter pyloridis in serum and gastric juice were estimated by an enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) to whole organisms obtained from bacterial culture in 39 patients with non-ulcer dyspepsia. Whereas 20 of the 21 patients with chronic gastritis had gastric C pyloridis, 17 patients with no Cpyloridis had normal histology in the gastric antrum and body. Significan...
متن کاملEvaluation of three Campylobacter pylori antigen preparations for screening sera from patients undergoing endoscopy.
A surface antigen (SA), acid glycine extract (AGE), and urease preparation (UP) were evaluated using sera from patients undergoing endoscopy and from subjects with gastric or duodenal ulcers. Sera were tested for the presence of IgG and IgA antibodies by a conventional indirect enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). In patients with confirmed Campylobacter pylori associated gastritis, raise...
متن کاملCampylobacter pylori gastritis: long term results of treatment with amoxycillin.
To evaluate the efficacy of amoxycillin in eradicating Campylobacter pylori, endoscopic biopsy specimens were taken from the antral mucosa of 40 children with gastritis before, immediately after, and (in 30 patients) three months after treatment. Immediately after treatment 34 patients (85%) no longer had the organism in the mucosa, and the gastritis had healed in 23 (58%). Three months later t...
متن کاملClinical importance of Campylobacter pyloridis and associated serum IgG and IgA antibody responses in patients undergoing upper gastrointestinal endoscopy.
Campylobacter pyloridis was isolated from 77% of 220 (35%) unselected adults undergoing gastroscopy. Isolation was significantly associated with histological gastritis (p less than 0.0001), duodenal ulcer (p less than 0.0001), and to a much lesser extent, with gastric ulcer (p less than 0.05). The relation between the isolation of C pyloridis and peptic ulcer seemed to be independent of coexist...
