چکیده

The unitary quantum lattice gas (QLG) algorithm is a mesoscopic unitary perturbative representation that canmodel themean field Gross Pitaevskii equation for the evolution of the ground state wave function of Bose Einstein Condensates (BECs). The QLG considered here consists of an interleaved sequence of unitary collide-stream operators, with the collision operator being deduced from that for the Dirac equation, with the nonlinear potentials of the BECs being themass term in the Dirac equation. Since the unitary collision operator is more accurate one obtains a more accurate representation of the nonlinear terms. Further benchmark QLG simulations are reported here: that for the exactly soluble 1D vector Manakov soliton collisions. It is found that this Dirac-based unitary algorithm permits simulations with vector soliton parameters (soliton amplitudes and speeds) that are considerably greater than those achieved under our previous p swap QLG algorithm. © 2015 Elsevier Ltd. Quantum Lattice Representation of Dark Solitons

The nonlinear Schrodinger (NLS) equation in a self-defocusing Kerr medium supports dark solitons. Moreover the mean field description of a dilute Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) is described by the Gross-Pitaevskii equation, which for a highly anisotropic (cigar-shaped) magnetic trap reduces to a one-dimensional (1D) cubic NLS in an external potential. A quantum lattice algorithm is developed fo...

N-soliton collision in the Manakov model

We investigate soliton collisions in the Manakov model which is a system of coupled nonlinear Schrödinger equations integrable via the inverse scattering method. Computing the asymptotic forms of the general N -soliton solution as t → ∓∞, we elucidate a mechanism which factorizes an N -soliton collision into nonlinear superposition of ( N 2 ) pair collisions in arbitrary order. This removes the...

Polarization scattering by soliton-soliton collisions

Collision of two solitons of the Manakov system is studied analytically. Existence of a complete polarization mode switching regime is proved and the parameters of solitons prepared for polarization switching are found. The idea of an analytical approach to the description of polarized (i.e., vector) solitons in nonlinear optical fibers is based on the fact [1] that for some values of the param...

Shape-changing Collisions of Coupled Bright Solitons in Birefringent Optical Fibers

We critically review the recent progress in understanding soliton propagation in birefringent optical fibers. By constructing the most general bright two-soliton solution of the integrable coupled nonlinear Schrödinger equation (Manakov model) we point out that solitons in birefringent fibers can in general change their shape after interaction due to a change in the intensity distribution among...
