Disposition Models for the Analysis of Dynamic Changes in Forest-Ecosystems

چکیده
An important aim in forest-ecosystem investigation is to analyse the development of forest damages and to quantify changes in the damage-states over time of individual trees by influential factors. In addition to the ordinal measurement in such longitudinal studies one has to consider spatial correlations of the trees within an ecosystem. We present a practical method to include such dependency structures using logistic regression models. The strategy is to adopt the disposition model for correlated binary data (Bonney (1998)) and extend it to an ordinal-disposition-transitional model (ODT-model). This includes proportional-oddstransitional models (POT-model) as a special case, assuming independence over time and space given a markov model of first order. The ODT-model is used to analyse dynamic changes of damage in forestecosystems. The analysed data was sampled with infrared aerial photos by the Swiss Federal Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape Research (Forschungsanstalt Wald, Schnee und Landschaft (WSL), Switzerland). A comparison of the independent case (POT-model) with the dependent case (ODT-model) shows that spatial correlations in forest-ecosystem should not be neglected.

Vegetation cover is an important component of terrestrial ecosystems that changes seasonally. Accurate parameterization of vegetation cover dynamics through developing indicators of periodic patterns can assist our understanding of vegetation-climate interactions. The current study was conducted to investigate and model vegetation changes in some phytogeographical regions of Iran including, Kha...
متن کاملMonitoring Land Cover Changes of Forests and Coastal Areas of Northern Iran (1988-2010): A Remote Sensing Approach
Caspian Sea coastline in the Mazandaran province has been altered as a result of activities of developers attracted to aesthetic and coastal recreational aspects of forest ecosystems. Advances in GIS and RS techniques, has made it possible to study the coastal areas for better management. Hence, the present study was undertaken to determine land cover changes via applying cross classificat...
متن کاملEvaluating the responses of forest ecosystems to climate change and CO2 using dynamic global vegetation models
The climate has important influences on the distribution and structure of forest ecosystems, which may lead to vital feedback to climate change. However, much of the existing work focuses on the changes in carbon fluxes or water cycles due to climate change and/or atmospheric CO 2, and few studies have considered how and to what extent climate change and CO 2 influence the ecosystem structure (...

In applied studies, the investigation of the relationship between a plant species and environmental variables is essential to manage ecological problems and rangeland ecosystems. This research was conducted in summer 2016. The aim of this study was to compare the predictive power of a number of Species Distribution Models (SDMs) and to evaluate the importance of a range of environmental variabl...
