چکیده
Observation of the Fulde-Ferrell-Larkin-Ovchinnikov state in the quasi-two-dimensional organic superconductor κ-(BEDT-TTF) 2 Cu(NCS) 2. Abstract Single crystals of the layered organic type II superconductor, κ-(BEDT-TTF) 2 Cu(NCS) 2 , have been studied in magnetic fields of up to 33 T and at temperatures between 0.5 K and 11 K using a compact differential suscep-tometer. When the magnetic field lies precisely in the quasi-two-dimensional planes of the material, there is strong evidence for a phase transition from the superconducting mixed state into a Fulde-Ferrell-Larkin-Ovchinnikov (FFLO) state, manisfested as a change in the rigidity of the vortex system. The behaviour of the transition as a function of temperature is in good agreement with theoretical predictions. 1 state in superconductors subjected to high magnetic fields (for a summary, see Refs. 2,3 and references therein). Calorimetric evidence for a Fulde-Ferrell-Larkin-Ovchinnikov superconducting state in the layered organic superconductor kappa-(BEDT-TTF)2Cu(NCS)2.
The specific heat of the layered organic superconductor kappa-(BEDT-TTF)(2)Cu(NCS)(2), where BEDT-TTF is bisethylenedithio-tetrathiafulvalene, has been studied in magnetic fields up to 28 T applied perpendicular and parallel to the superconducting layers. In parallel fields above 21 T, the superconducting transition becomes first order, which signals that the Pauli-limiting field is reached. In...

متن کاملSuperconductivity in Layered Organic Metals
In this short review, I will give an overview on the current understanding of the superconductivity in quasi-two-dimensional organic metals. Thereby, I will focus on charge-transfer salts based on bis(ethylenedithio)tetrathiafulvalene (BEDT-TTF or ET for short). In these materials, strong electronic correlations are clearly evident, resulting in unique phase diagrams. The layered crystallograph...
متن کاملFulde-Ferrell-Larkin-Ovchinnikov state in d-wave superconductors
The Fulde-Ferrell-Larkin-Ovchinnikov (FFLO) state can be found in layered dwave superconductors such as high Tc cuprates and κ-(ET)2 salts in a planar magnetic field. We show the superconducting order parameter forms two dimensional crystalline lattice in the FFLO state for d-wave superconductors. Also the quasiparticle density of states and the thermodynamics of FFLO state are constructed. The...
متن کاملLarkin-Ovchinnikov-Fulde-Ferrell state in quasi-one-dimensional superconductors.
The properties of a quasi-one-dimensional (quasi-1D) superconductor with an open Fermi surface are expected to be unusual in a magnetic field. On the one hand, the quasi-1D structure of the Fermi surface strongly favors the formation of a non-uniform state (Larkin-Ovchinnikov-Fulde-Ferrell (LOFF) state) in the presence of a magnetic field acting on the electron spins. On the other hand, a magne...
