چکیده

In order for agents to successfully make decisions about task allocations within a team, two elements are essential: (1) a good judgement of the situation and (2) once the situation is known have a good decision making process to derive and assign tasks that should be performed. Within research on agent systems, little work has been done on the combination of the two. In this paper, a human-based situation awareness model is combined with a decision making procedure (which incorporates task identification and task allocation). In order to show that the approach is able to produce good results, it has been evaluated in a case study within the domain of fighter pilots. More specifically, enemy fighter pilot decision making is modelled, for the purpose of using intelligent agents in the enemy role in virtual simulation training. Simulation runs using the model show promising results.

Team situation awareness measure using semantic utility functions for supporting dynamic decision-making

Team decision-making is a remarkable feature in a complex dynamic decision environment, which can be supported by team situation awareness. In this paper, a team situation awareness measure (TSAM) method using a semantic utility function is proposed. The semantic utility function is used to clarify the semantics of qualitative information expressed in linguistic terms. The individual and team s...

Using Fuzzy Cognitive Maps to Assess Multi-Operator Situation Awareness

A key aspect of modem battlefield environments is the rapid generation and enormous volume of data available to decision makers, Although this data can potentially afford a decision maker an accurate “snap shot” of the emerging situation, it can also produce noise and data clutter that confuses or distracts. When the resulting operation requires individual members of a distributed team to indep...

A New Group Data Envelopment Analysis Method for Ranking Design Requirements in Quality Function ‎Deployment

‎Data envelopment analysis (DEA) is an objective method for priority determination of decision making units (DMUs) with the same multiple inputs and outputs. DEA is an efficiency estimation technique, but it can be used for solving many problems of management such as rankig of DMUs. Many researchers have found similarity between DEA and MCDM techniques. One of the earliest techniques in MCDM is...

On Shared Situation Awareness for Supporting Human Decision-Making Teams

One of the challenging issues in homeland security area is the early detection and successful processing of potential terrorist threats, which demands effective team collaboration. In this research we investigate the way of incorporating naturalistic decision making models for supporting distributed team decision making. By extending Klein’s Recognition-Primed Decision model, we propose a Colla...

Ontology-Based Inference to Enhance Team Situation Awareness in Emergency Management

In this paper, we propose the use of an ontology-based and semantic technologies approach to improving shared situation awareness amongst teams dealing with emergency situations. We have also identified that shared and team situation awareness tends to be viewed only in terms of cooperative task completion and so we have tried to describe their important relationship with team decision making. ...
