چکیده

In this paper, we show that the central limit theorem (CLT) satisfied by the data-driven Multidimensional Increment Ratio (MIR) estimator of the memory parameter d established in Bardet and Dola (2012) for d ∈ (−0.5, 0.5) can be extended to a semiparametric class of Gaussian fractionally integrated processes with memory parameter d ∈ (−0.5, 1.25). Since the asymptotic variance of this CLT can be estimated, by data-driven MIR tests for the two cases of stationarity and non-stationarity, so two tests are constructed distinguishing the hypothesis d < 0.5 and d ≥ 0.5, as well as a fractional unit roots test distinguishing the case d = 1 from the case d < 1. Simulations done on numerous kinds of short-memory, long-memory and non-stationary processes, show both the high accuracy and robustness of this MIR estimator compared to those of usual semiparametric estimators. They also attest of the reasonable efficiency of MIR tests compared to other usual stationarity tests or fractional unit roots tests.

Semiparametric stationarity tests based on adaptive multidimensional increment ratio statistics

In this paper, we show that the adaptive multidimensional increment ratio estimator of the long range memory parameter defined in Bardet and Dola (2012) satisfies a central limit theorem (CLT in the sequel) for a large semiparametric class of Gaussian fractionally integrated processes with memory parameter d ∈ (−0.5, 1.25). Since the asymptotic variance of this CLT can be computed, tests of sta...

Generalized Ridge Regression Estimator in Semiparametric Regression Models

In the context of ridge regression, the estimation of ridge (shrinkage) parameter plays an important role in analyzing data. Many efforts have been put to develop skills and methods of computing shrinkage estimators for different full-parametric ridge regression approaches, using eigenvalues. However, the estimation of shrinkage parameter is neglected for semiparametric regression models. The m...

sts16 Tests for long memory in a time series

Acknowledgments I acknowledge useful conversations with Serena Ng, James Stock, and Vince Wiggins. The KPSS code was adapted from John Barkoulas’ RATS code for that test. Thanks also to Richard Sperling for tracking down a discrepancy between published work and the dfgls output and alerting me to the Cheung and Lai estimates. Any remaining errors are my own. Long Memory and Forecasting in Euroyen Deposit Rates

We test for long memory in 3and 6-month daily returns series on Eurocurrency deposits denominated in Japanese yen (Euroyen). The fractional differencing parameter is estimated using the spectral regression method. The conflicting evidence obtained from the application of tests against a unit root as well as tests against stationarity provides the motivation for testing for fractional roots. Sig...

On Phillips-perron Type Tests for Seasonal Unit Roots

In this paper we consider a semiparametric version of the test for seasonal unit roots suggested by Hylleberg, Engle, Granger, and Yoo (1990, Journal of Econometrics 44, 215–238)+ The asymptotic theory is based on the analysis of a simple regression problem, and the results apply to tests at any given frequency in the range ~0,p#+ Monte Carlo simulations suggest that the test may have more powe...
