FutureBooster: An Ambient Synthesizer

I present FutureBooster, a granular synthesizer for ambient applications. Implemented in the Max/MSP programming language, FutureBooster offers the performer or composer a wide variety of soundscapes and textures. The synthesizer can run as a standalone application or as a VST plug-in and can be controlled using a MIDI keyboard. As well, audio effects such as delay and reverb are available to further process the sound. INTRODUCTION The area of granular synthesis is largely undeveloped. There are not many hardware or software synthesizers on the market that implement granular synthesis aside from a small handful of synthesizers, such as Propellerhead’s Malström graintable synthesizer [8], which uses a combination of granular synthesis and wavetable synthesis. It is for this reason that I chose to develop my own granular synthesizer, FutureBooster.
