Physical and Affective Interaction between Human and Mental Commit Robot

چکیده
Recent advances in robotics have been applied to automation in industrial manufacturing, with the primary purpose of optimizing practical systems in terms of such objective measures as accuracy, speed, and cost. This paper introduces research on mental commit robot that seeks a different direction that is not so rigidly dependent on such objective measures. The main goal of this research is to explore a new area in robotics, with an emphasis on human-robot interaction. In the previous research, we introduced a cat robot and evaluated it by interviewing many people. The results showed that physical interaction improved subjective evaluation. However, some subjects gave severe comments on structure of the cat robot when they interacted with it physically. Because of appearance of cat robot, subjects associated with a real cat depending on their own experiences and knowledge, and then compared the robot with real cat. This paper investigates influence of a priori knowledge into subjective interpretation and evaluation of mental commit robot. We developed a new seal robot that has appearance of a baby of harp seal. Most people did not know harp seal precisely nor have experience of interaction with it. Then, subjects evaluated the seal robot while interacting with it.

A Study on the Level of Learners' Readiness for Learning from the View Point of B.S. Students in Isfahan Medical University in 2001
Introduction. One of the basic human activities is learning and education. Indeed the role of education is to facilitate learning but many internal or external factors affect the learning process such as learners’ physical, affective and mental readiness. If we don’t pay attention to these factors, they will lead to a superficial learning and finally the trained and graduated students won't be...
متن کاملAn Experimental Study on Blinking and Eye Movement Detection via EEG Signals for Human-Robot Interaction Purposes Based on a Spherical 2-DOF Parallel Robot
Blinking and eye movement are one of the most important abilities that most people have, even people with spinal cord problem. By using this ability these people could handle some of their activities such as moving their wheelchair without the help of others. One of the most important fields in Human-Robot Interaction is the development of artificial limbs working with brain signals. The purpos...

متن کاملMorphing Estimated Human Intention via Human - Robot Interactions
Estimating and reshaping human intentions are topics of research in the field of human-robot interaction. Although works on estimating human intentions are quite well known research areas in the literature, reshaping intentions through interactions is a new significant branching in the field of human-robot interaction. In this paper, we research how the human intentions change based on his/her ...
متن کاملEnhancing Collaborative Human-Robot Interaction Through Physiological-Signal Based Communication
In order to develop a friendly and safe interaction between humans and robots, it is essential for the robot to evaluate users’ affective states and respond accordingly. This paper investigates the use of physiological signals to estimate human affective states during a Human-Robot Interaction (HRI) task. We focus on characterizing physiological responses and understanding how affective states ...
