Automatic Camera Calibration for Traffic Understanding
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper proposes a method for fully automatic calibration of traffic surveillance cameras. Our method allows for calibration of the camera – including scale – without any user input, only from several minutes of input surveillance video. The targeted applications include speed measurement, measurement of vehicle dimensions, vehicle classification, etc. The first step of our approach is camera calibration by determining three vanishing points defining the stream of vehicles (Fig. 2, [3]). The second step is construction of 3D bounding boxes of vehicles (Fig. 3) and their measurement up to scale. In the third step, we use the dimensions of the 3D bounding boxes for calibration of the scene scale (Fig. 4).

Traffic surveillance camera calibration by 3D model bounding box alignment for accurate vehicle speed measurement
In this paper, we focus on fully automatic traffic surveillance camera calibration which we use for speed measurement of passing vehicles. We improve over a recent state-ofthe-art camera calibration method for traffic surveillance based on two detected vanishing points. More importantly, we propose a novel automatic scene scale inference based on matching bounding boxes of rendered 3D models of...
متن کاملBrnoCompSpeed: Review of Traffic Camera Calibration and Comprehensive Dataset for Monocular Speed Measurement
In this paper, we focus on traffic camera calibration and visual speed measurement from a single monocular camera, which is an important task of visual traffic surveillance. Existing methods addressing this problem are hard to compare due to lack of a common dataset with reliable ground truth. Therefore, it is not clear how the methods compare in various aspects and what are the factors affecti...
متن کاملAutomatic camera calibration method based on dashed lines
We present a new method for full-automatic calibration of traffic cameras using the end points on dashed lines. Our approach uses the improved RANSAC method with the help of pixels transverse projection to detect the dashed lines and end points on them. Then combining analysis of the geometric relationship between the camera and road coordinate systems, we construct a road model to fit the end ...
متن کاملAccident Reconstruction via Digital Close-range Photogrammetry
With the ever wider adoption of spatial information analysis, there has been an increasing awareness of the importance of 3D data acquisition systems to support traffic accident reconstruction and forensic analysis. In an application such as accident reconstruction, GIS and CAD systems have limited utility without the underlying data. Digital close-range photogrammetry displays many attributes ...
متن کاملLiveLayer: Real-time Traffic Video Visualisation on Geographical Maps
While video cameras are an ubiquitous and intuitive means of collecting traffic information, it has been difficult to utilise such an information source for creating a global view in real time traffic visualisation. In this paper, we present a real-time method for transforming video information in quasi-3D to spatial information in a 2D planar visualisation, which acts as a live layer on top of...
