Experimental Results on Hamiltonian-Cycle-Finding Algorithms

Frieze [1] introduced a heuristic polynomial-time algorithm, Ham, for finding Hamiltonian cycles in random graphs with high probability. We wanted to see how this algorithm performs in practice, and whether it could be improved by modifying it. For this purpose, we borrowed an idea from an algorithm by Keydar called SemiHam [2]. SemiHam is a modification of Ham that finds Hamiltonian cycles in ...

Intermittently-Connected Mobile Networks as Markovian Random Temporal Graphs

We model intermittently-connected mobile networks (ICMN) in terms of Markovian random temporal graphs. Using this new model, we examine, both analytically and by replaying a real-life trace obtained in a rollerblading tour, the interactions between node mobility, maximum tolerated delay, and bundle 1 size.

On the optimality of a simple strategy for searching graphs

Consider a search game with an immobile hider in a graph. A Chinese postman tour is a closed trajectory which visits all the points of the graph and has minimal length. We show that encircling the Chinese postman tour in a random direction is an optimal search strategy if and only if the graph is weakly Eulerian (i.e it consists of several Eulerian curves connected in a tree-like structure).

Traveling in Randomly Embedded Random Graphs

We consider the problem of traveling among random points in Euclidean space, when only a random fraction of the pairs are joined by traversable connections. In particular, we show a threshold for a pair of points to be connected by a geodesic of length arbitrarily close to their Euclidean distance, and analyze the minimum length Traveling Salesperson Tour, extending the BeardwoodHalton-Hammersl...
