چکیده

Context-aware systems are ubiquitous computing systems capable to adapt their behavior according to a dynamical changing environment. The development of reasoning and modeling techniques of context information have resulted a challenging task due to the inherent complexity of dynamical systems. In particular, modeling time and location context information have been so far constrained in current formalisms for context-aware computing due to expressive and computational limitations. Due to the well-known balance of expressive power and efficient reasoning algorithms associated to modal logics, we propose in the current work the use of expressive modal logics as a reasoning framework for context-aware pervasive systems. In particular, we describe a consistency model for a context-aware communication system. The consistency of this model is characterized in term of the satisfiability of the μ-calculus (an expressive modal logic).

Towards a Reasoning Model for Context-aware Systems: Modal Logic and the Tree Model Property

Modal logics forms a family of formalisms widely used as reasoning frameworks in diverse areas of computer science. Description logics and their application to the web semantic is a notable example. Also, description logics have been recently used as a reasoning model for context-aware systems. Most reasoning algorithms for modal (description) logics are based on tableau constructions. In this ...

INCONSISTENCY–ADAPTIVE MODAL LOGICS On How to Cope with Modal Inconsistency

In this paper, I will characterize a new class of inconsistency–adaptive logics, namely inconsistency–adaptive modal logics. These logics cope with inconsistencies in a modal context. More specifically, when faced with inconsistencies, inconsistency–adaptive modal logics avoid explosion, but still allow the derivation of sufficient consequences to adequately explicate the intended part of human...

Modal Logics for Reasoning about Multiagent Systems

It becomes evident in recent years a surge of interest to applications of modal logics for specification and validation of complex systems. It holds in particular for combined logics of knowledge, time and actions for reasoning about multiagent systems (Dixon, Nalon & Fisher, 2004; Fagin, Halpern, Moses & Vardi, 1995; Halpern & Vardi, 1986; Halpern, van der Meyden & Vardi, 2004; van der Hoek & ...

Context-aware Modeling for Spatio-temporal Data Transmitted from a Wireless Body Sensor Network

Context-aware systems must be interoperable and work across different platforms at any time and in any place. Context data collected from wireless body area networks (WBAN) may be heterogeneous and imperfect, which makes their design and implementation difficult. In this research, we introduce a model which takes the dynamic nature of a context-aware system into consideration. This model is con...

HyLMoC A Model Checker for Hybrid Logic

The current technological trend depicts a scenario in which space, and more generally the environment in which the computation takes place, represents a key aspect that must be considered in order to improve systems context awareness. Reasoning about such context can be interpreted as spatial reasoning, which means not only to be able to carry out inferences about the space itself, but also inf...
