چکیده

We present a systematic method for proving nonterminating basic hypergeometric identities. Assume that k is the summation index. By setting a parameter x to xqn, we may find a recurrence relation of the summation by using the q-Zeilberger algorithm. This method applies to almost all nonterminating basic hypergeometric summation formulas in the book of Gasper and Rahman. Furthermore, by comparing the recursions and the limit values, we may verify many classical transformation formulas, including the Sears-Carlitz transformation, transformations of the very-well-poised 8φ7 series, the Rogers-Fine identity, and the limiting case of Watson’s formula that implies the Rogers-Ramanujan identities.

The q-WZ method for infinite series

Abstract. Motivated by the telescoping proofs of two identities of Andrews and Warnaar, we find that infinite q-shifted factorials can be incorporated into the implementation of the q-Zeilberger algorithm in the approach of Chen, Hou and Mu to prove nonterminating basic hypergeometric series identities. This observation enables us to extend the q-WZ method to identities on infinite series. As e...

Uniform convergence of hypergeometric series

The considered problem is uniform convergence of sequences of hypergeometric series. We give necessary and sufficient conditions for uniformly dominated convergence of infinite sums of proper bivariate hypergeometric terms. These conditions can be checked algorithmically. Hence the results can be applied in Zeilberger type algorithms for nonterminating hypergeometric series.

Noncommutative Extensions of Ramanujan’s 1ψ1 Summation ∗

Using functional equations, we derive noncommutative extensions of Ramanujan's 1 ψ 1 summation. 1. Introduction. Hypergeometric series with noncommutative parameters and argument, in the special case involving square matrices, have been the subject of recent study, see e.g. the papers by Duval and Ovsienko [DO], Grünbaum [G], Tirao [T], and some of the references mentioned therein. Of course, t...

This paper argues that automated proofs of identities for non-terminating hypergeometric series are feasible by a combination of Zeilberger’s algorithm and asymptotic estimates. For two analogues of Saalschütz’ summation formula in the non-terminating case this is illustrated. Last modified: February 13, 1998

A NONTERMINATING 8φ7 SUMMATION FOR THE ROOT System Cr

where aq = bcdef (cf. [9, Eq. (2.11.7)]), is one of the deepest results in the classical theory of basic hypergeometric series. It contains many important identities as special cases (such as the nonterminating 3φ2 summation, the terminating 8φ7 summation, and all their specializations including the q-binomial theorem). One way to derive (1.1) is to start with a particular rational function ide...
