Evidence for Multiple-Reason Decision Making Under Time Limits
نویسنده
چکیده
It has been repeatedly shown that in decisions under time constraints, individuals predominantly use non-compensatory strategies rather than complex compensatory strategies. We argue that these findings might not be due to limitations of cognitive capacity but to limitations of information search induced by the commonly used experimental procedure mouselab (Payne et al., 1988). We tested this assumption in three experiments. In the first experiment, information was openly presented, whereas in the second experiment the standard mouselab was used under different time limits. The results indicate that individuals are able to compute weighted additive decision strategies extremely quickly if the information search is not restricted by the experimental procedure. In a third experiment, these results could be replicated using more complex decision tasks; the major alternative explanations that individuals use more complex heuristics or encode the constellation of cues only could be ruled out. In sum, the findings challenge the fundaments of bounded rationality and highlight the importance of automatic processes in decision making.

A New Balancing and Ranking Method based on Hesitant Fuzzy Sets for Solving Decision-making Problems under Uncertainty
The purpose of this paper is to extend a new balancing and ranking method to handle uncertainty for a multiple attribute analysis under a hesitant fuzzy environment. The presented hesitant fuzzy balancing and ranking (HF-BR) method does not require attributes’ weights through the process of multiple attribute decision making (MADM) under hesitant conditions. For the rating of possible alternati...

متن کاملHorizontal representation of a hesitant fuzzy set and its application to multiple attribute decision making
The main aim of this paper is to present a novel method for ranking hesitant fuzzy sets (HFSs) based on transforming HFSs into fuzzy sets (FSs). The idea behind the method is an interesting HFS decomposition which is referred here to as the horizontal representation in the current study. To show the validity of the proposed ranking method, we apply it to solve a multi-attribute decision-making ...

This paper presents a Taylor series approach for solving linear fractional de-centralized bi-level multi-objective decision-making (LFDBL-MODM) problems with asingle decision maker at the upper level and multiple decision makers at the lower level. In the proposed approach, the membership functions associated with each objective(s) ofthe level(s) of LFDBL-MODM are transformed by using a Taylor s...
متن کاملExtensions of ELECTRE-I and TOPSIS methods for group decision-making under complex Pythagorean fuzzy environment
Multi-criteria group decision-making is a process in which decision makers assess the performance of alternatives on the basis of conflicting criteria to opt the most worthy alternative as solution. TOPSIS and ELECTRE are effective and commonly used methods to solve multiple criteria decision-making problems. The aim of this study is to propose two new models, namely, complex Pythagorean fuzzy ...
