چکیده

We use the source counts measured with the Multiband Imaging Photometer for Spitzer at 24, 70, and 160 m to determine the 5 confusion limits due to extragalactic sources: 56 Jy, 3.2 mJy, and 40 mJy at 24, 70, and 160 m, respectively. We also make predictions for confusion limits for a number of proposed far-infrared missions of larger aperture (3.5–10 m diameter). Subject headinggs: galaxies: evolution — galaxies: statistics — infrared: galaxies

Aegis: Infrared Spectral Energy Distributions of Mips 70 Μm Selected Sources

We present 0.5 – 160 μm Spectral Energy Distributions (SEDs) of galaxies, detected at 70μm with the Multiband Imaging Photometer for Spitzer (MIPS), using broadband imaging data from Spitzer and ground-based telescopes. Spectroscopic redshifts, in the range 0.2≤z≤1.5, have been measured as part of the Deep Extragalactic Evolutionary Probe2 (DEEP2) project. Based on the SEDs we explore the natur...

An Empirically Based Model for Predicting Infrared Luminosity Functions, Deep Infrared Galaxy Counts and the Diffuse Infrared Background

We predict luminosity functions and number counts for extragalactic infrared sources at various wavelengths using the framework of our empirically based model. Comparisons of our galaxy count results with existing data indicate that either galaxy luminosity evolution is not much stronger than Q = 3.1, where L ∝ (1+z), or that this evolution does not continue beyond a redshift of 2. However, a d...

The extragalactic submillimetre population: predictions for the SCUBA Half-Degree Extragalactic Survey (SHADES)

We present predictions for the angular correlation function and redshift distribution for SHADES, the SCUBA Half-Degree Extragalactic Survey, which will yield a sample of around 300 submillimetre sources in the 850-μm waveband in two separate fields. Complete and unbiased photometric redshift information on these submillimetre sources will be derived by combining the SCUBA data with (i) deep ra...

We have measured the contribution of submillimeter and mid-infrared sources to the extragalactic background radiation at 70 and 160μm. Specifically, we have stacked flux in 70 and 160μm Spitzer Space Telescope (Spitzer) observations of the Canada-UK Deep Sub-millimeter Survey 14h field at the positions of 850μm sources detected by SCUBA and also 8 and 24μm sources detected by Spitzer. We find t...

Mid - to - Far Infrared Spectral Energy Distribution of Galaxies in Spitzer First Look Survey Field ∗

We made model fitting to the mid-to-far infrared spectral energy distributions (SEDs) for different categories of galaxies in the main extragalactic field of the Spitzer First Look Survey with the aid of spectroscopic information from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey. We find that the mid-to-far infrared SEDs of HII galaxies, mixture type galaxies and LINERs can be well fitted by the one-parameter ...
