چکیده

This contribution is devoted to the noise suppression system for monoaural SPEAK-type cochlear implants. The system is based on the combination of the superdirective two-microphone array and the noise suppression post-processing, both implemented in the frequency domain. The relative insensitivity of the two-microphone superdirective system to the spectral magnitude di erences in both channels enables the two-channel noise suppression post-processing. The new criterion originating from the SPEAK coding strategy is used for the evaluation of the whole system.

A meta-analytic comparison of binaural benefits between bilateral cochlear implants and bimodal stimulation.

A meta-analytic approach was used to examine sixteen peer-reviewed publications related to speech-recognition performance in noise at fixed signal-to-noise ratios for participants who use bilateral cochlear implants (CIs) or bimodal stimulation. Two hundred eighty-seven analyses were conducted to compare the underlying contributions of binaural summation, binaural squelch, and the head-shadow e...

Monaural Beamforming in Bimodal Cochlear Implant Users: Effect of (A)symmetric Directivity and Noise Type

OBJECTIVE To evaluate monaural beamforming in bimodally aided cochlear implant (CI) users. DESIGN The study enrolled twelve adult bimodal listeners with at least six months of CI-experience and using a contralateral hearing aid (HA) most of the daytime. Participants were uniformly fitted with the same CI speech processor and HA, giving access to an identical monaural beamformer in both ears. ...

Sequential bilateral cochlear implantation in children

Binaural hearing offers several advantages over monaural hearing including improved speech understanding in the presence of background noise and the ability to localize the source of sounds. Patients who have undergone unilateral cochlear implantation perform poorly at these binaural tasks despite their improved hearing capabilities. Bilateral cochlear implants have restored these abilities in ...
