Introspection as Control in Result-Sharing Assumption-Based Reasoning Agents
نویسنده
چکیده
Introspection refers to an agent’s knowledge of its own beliefs. In this paper we explore the use of introspection as a mechanism for control in result-sharing cooperative assumptionbased reasoning systems. Contrary to the current trend towards building agents with mechanisms for selective communication, our experiments indicate there exists an interesting class of cooperative distributed problem solving systems in which agents may broadcast results without regard to selection. Recipient agents avoid penalties typically associated with such broadcast strategies using introspection and a history of knowledge state to focus problem solving.

Self-Correcting Unsound Reasoning Agents
This paper introduces a formal framework for relating learning and deduction in reasoning agents. Our goal is to capture imperfect reasoning as well as the progress, through introspection, towards a better reasoning ability. We capture the interleaving between these by a reasoning/deduction connection and we show how this—and related—definition apply to a setting in which agents are modeled by ...
متن کاملIntrospection and Projection in Reasoning about Other Agents Introspection and Projection in Reasoning about Other Agents
This paper develops the formal aspects of a new apporach to reasoning about the knowledge of other agents. It is based on the principles of introspection, by which an agent is aware of the inferences he makes, and projection, by which an agent assumes that other agents have the same inference abilities as himself. The paper develops a logic that incorporates these principles and proves the soun...

متن کاملIntegration of hypothetical reasoning in hierarchical multi-agent architecture
We propose in this paper an hypothetical reasoning model based on Assumption-Based Truth Maintenance Systems (ATMS). The model is integrated into a three levels hierarchical multi-agent architecture 3] 4] built with two kinds of agents called respectively specialist agent and supervisor agent. An ATMS is integrated into each specialist agent. The reasoning mechanism of the agent is based on a k...
متن کاملDistributed Autoepistemic Logic and its Application to Access Control
In this paper we define and study an extension of autoepistemic logic (AEL) called distributed autoepistemic logic (dAEL) with multiple agents that have full introspection in their own knowledge as well as in that of others. This mutual full introspection between agents is motivated by an application of dAEL in access control. We define 2and 3-valued semantic operators for dAEL. Using these ope...
