چکیده

Three models of EPDs Siemens Mk 2.3, Rados RAD-60S, and Vertec Bleeper Sv were irradiated with seven photon beam qualities: Co, Cs, and the ISO narrow spectrum series x-ray qualities N-250, N-200, N-150, N-60 and N-20. The personal dose equivalent rates delivered to the devices varied in the range between 0.002 and 0.25 mSv/s. Measurements were made with the EPDs mounted free-in-air as well as against Lucite and water phantoms. The results for all models of EPDs showed differences in personal dose equivalent energy response for the different energies covered by this range of radiation qualities, with different models showing variations from 15% to 65%. In some cases, the personal dose equivalent rate response of these devices varied by a factor of 3 between irradiations at typical calibration dose rates and the dose rates normally encountered by nuclear energy workers.

Dosimetry of Occupational Radiation around Panoramic X-ray Apparatus

Background: Panoramic imaging is one of the most common imaging methods in dentistry. Regarding the side-effects of ionizing radiation, it is necessary to survey different aspects and details of panoramic imaging. In this study, we compared the absorbed x-ray dose around two panoramic x-ray units: PM 2002 CC Proline (Planmeca, Helsinki, Finland) and Cranex Tome (Soredex, Helsinki, Finland).<br ...

Radiation Protection Dosimetry in Pulsed Radiation Fields

The application of pulsed radiation fields for research, security screening and medical examinations has increased remarkably in the last years. Testing of active personal and area dosemeters for the operation in pulsed radiation fields is a necessity to judge the suitability of the dosemeter. Up to now, radiation protection dosemeters have only been tested in continuous fields, although they a...

Radiation measurements around X-ray cabinet systems.

Security personnel who operate X-ray units for the control of hand luggage and personal items at airports are generally not under dosimetric surveillance. A significant increase in the number of inspected items per passenger, due to rigorous air traffic security measures, raises a question of extended exposure of these workers to scattered X-ray radiation. A new approach to investigating direct...

An in-vivo study on the energy dependence of X-ray biological effectiveness

Background: The International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) has attributed the same relative risk for X and gamma radiations of all energies. Several studies have proven that the biological effect of low energy photon is more than that of higher ones. The assessment of risks is important due to the wide use of low energy X-rays for mammography screening and other diagnostic appli...

Photon doses in NPL standard neutron fields.

Standard neutron fields are invariably accompanied by a photon component due to the neutron-generating reactions and secondary neutron interactions in the surrounding environment. A set of energy-compensated Geiger-Müller (GM) tubes and electronic personal dosemeters (EPDs) have been used to measure the photon dose rates in a number of standard radionuclide and accelerator-based neutron fields....
