Comparison of preamble structures for burst frequency synchronization
نویسنده
چکیده
Two types of repetition preambles are compared concerning frequency synchronization in burst transmission. A near–optimum frequency estimation algorithm with scalable lock–in range is proposed in conjunction with a reduced–overhead synchronization preamble, the so–called sandamble. Even though the fundamental ideas are independent from the specific modulation scheme, we study the algorithms in an Orthogonal Frequency–Division Multiplexing (OFDM) system. Burst frame and frequency synchronization with a sandwich preamble
Preamble schemes with periodic signal repetitions are often used for synchronization purposes in transmission over dispersive media. We describe a sandamble, being a splitted repetition preamble with reduced training overhead, and compare its frame and frequency synchronization performance in burst transmission to the performance of a conventional repetition preamble like standardized for IEEE ...
متن کاملFast Burst Synchronization for Power Line Communication Systems
Fast burst synchronization is an important requirement in asynchronous communication networks, where devices transmit short data packets in an unscheduled fashion. Such a synchronization is typically achieved by means of a preamble sent in front of the data packet. In this paper, we study fast burst synchronization for power line communication (PLC) systems operating below 500 kHz and transmitt...
متن کاملFrequency Synchronization for MIMO OFDM Wireless LAN Systems
This paper proposes an accurate and time-efficient technique for frequency synchronization of multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems. The technique uses a preamble and is thus especially suitable for burst mode communication. The preamble consists of training sequences simultaneously transmitted from the various transmit antennas. From an...
متن کاملBurst synchronization of slotted random access with preamble power ramping in the reverse link of CDMA systems
Efficient random access is one of the key designs in code-division multiple-access (CDMA) cellular systems. Random access is used by user equipment for initial access, requesting dedicated channels and transmitting short packet data to a base station. In random access, a preamble part is usually devised for fast and reliable burst synchronization, which is essential in order to avoid excessive ...
