چکیده

We present a study of the magnetic properties of the superparamagnetic ferritin system by employing zero-field (ZF) and longitudinal-field (LF) μSR measurements. Two μ fractions with different depolarisation behaviour are detected, one arising from muons stopped in the organic shell and one from muons stopped in the mineral core. The freezing of the superparamagnetic moments is evident in the temperature evolution of the ZF relaxation rates of both fractions. It occurs gradually below ≈ 60 K and is essentially complete at ≈ 11 K. The results are consistent with a distribution of blocking temperatures which in turn reflects the distribution of core sizes.

Probing the Ground State Properties of Iron-based Superconducting Pnictides and Related Systems by Muon-Spin Spectroscopy

In this short review, we attempt to give a comprehensive discussion of studies performed to date by muon-spin spectroscopy (more precisely the relaxation and rotation technique, also know as μSR) on the recently discovered layered iron-based superconductors. On one side, μSR has been used to characterized the magnetic state of different families of layered iron-based systems. Similarly the subt...

μSR study of short-range magnetic order in the paramagnetic regime of ErCo2

Zero-field muon spin relaxation spectroscopy (μSR) measurements in the paramagnetic phase of ErCo2 ferrimagnetic system are reported. Previous experimental studies using macroand microscopic techniques led to the identification of magnetic short-range correlations between the Co atoms in the paramagnetic state of this material. The analysis of μSR spectra recorded on ErCo2 well above Tc indicat...

Magnetic Properties of Cobalt Ferrite synthesized by Hydrothermal and Co-precipitation Methods: A Comparative Study

The magnetic properties of calcined cobalt ferrite formed by nano-crystalline powders have been compared by two different methods (co-precipitation and hydrothermal). The structural properties of the produced powders were investigated by X-ray Diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results show that the formation of cobalt ferrite spinel structures is effected by changing me...

Muon spin relaxation study of LaTiO(3) and YTiO(3).

We report muon spin relaxation (μSR) measurements on two Ti(3+) containing perovskites, LaTiO(3) and YTiO(3), which display long-range magnetic order at low temperature. For both materials, oscillations in the time dependence of the muon polarization are observed which are consistent with three-dimensional magnetic order. From our data we identify two magnetically inequivalent muon stopping sit...

Association between serum ferritin level, cardiac and hepatic T2-star MRI in patients with major β-thalassemia

Background Frequent blood transfusion is often associated with iron overload. Proper use of iron chelators to treat iron overload requires an accurate measurement of iron levels. Magnetic resonance T2-star (T2* MRI) can measure iron level in the heart and liver. Our goal was to see whether an association exists between serum ferritin level and T2* MRI in patients with major beta thalassemia. ...
