چکیده

We present an edge-on Keplerian disc model to explain the main component of the 12.2 and 6.7GHz methanol maser emission detected toward NGC7538IRS1N . The brightness distribution and spectrum of the line of bright masers are successfully modeled with high amplification of background radio continuum emission along velocity coherent paths through a maser disc. The bend seen in the position-velocity diagram is a characteristic signature of differentially rotating discs. For a central mass of 30M⊙, suggested by other observations, our model fixes the masing disc to have inner and outer radii of ∼ 350AU and ∼ 1000AU. Dispersal of Gaseous Circumstellar Discs around High-Mass Stars

We study the dispersal of a gaseous disc surrounding a central high-mass stellar core once this circumstellar disc becomes fully ionized. If the stellar and surrounding EUV and X-ray radiations are so strong as to rapidly heat up and ionize the entire circumstellar disc as further facilitated by disc magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) turbulence, a shock can be driven to travel outward in the fully ioni...

Discovery of Extremely High Velocity “Molecular Bullets” in the HH 80–81 High-Mass Star-Forming Region

We present Submillimter Array 1.3 mm waveband continuum and molecular line observations of the HH 80–81 high-mass star-forming region. The dust continuum emission reveals two dominant peaks MM1 and MM2, and line emission from high-density tracers suggests the presence of another core MC. Molecular line emission from MM1, which harbors the exciting source of the HH 80–81 radio jet, yields a hot ...

High-resolution studies of massive star-forming regions

We summarize the status of our program of near-infrared adaptive optics observations of ultracompact Hii regions. By means of selected results we demonstrate the usefulness of this technique for disentangling the complexity of massive star-forming regions. The primary scientific aims of our study are the identification of the ionizing stars, the characterization of the stellar population, the c...

Letter to the Editor Observations of methanol masers in NGC7538: probable detection of a circumstellar disc

We present VLBI observations of 6.7 and 12.2 GHz methanol masers in the star forming region NGC7538. Our results show the existence of two groups of masers. The first group exhibits a linear velocity gradient and forms a line in our VLBI map which is consistent with a rotating disc of masers seen edge-on around a massive star. The second group of masers are blueshifted with respect to the first...

Astronomy & Astrophysics L etter to the E ditor HD 172555 : detection of 63 μ m [ OI ] emission in a debris disc ,

Context. HD 172555 is a young A7 star belonging to the β Pictoris moving group that harbours a debris disc. The Spitzer/IRS spectrum of the source showed mid-IR features such as silicates and glassy silica species, indicating the presence of a warm dust component with small grains, which places HD 172555 among the small group of debris discs with such properties. The IRS spectrum also shows a p...
