Energy Efficient Social-Based Routing for Delay Tolerant Networks
نویسندگان
چکیده
Delay Tolerant Network (DTN) is one kind of emerging networks characterized by long delay and intermittent connectivity. Traditional ad hoc routing protocols are inapplicable or perform poorly in DTNs because nodes are seldom fully connected. In recent years, many routing protocols (especially social-based routing) are proposed to improve the delivery ratio in DTNs, but most of them do not consider the load of nodes thus may lead to unbalanced energy consumption among nodes. In this paper, we propose an Energy Efficient Social-based Routing (EESR) protocol to reduce the load of nodes while maintaining the delivery ratio within an acceptable range by limiting the chances of forwarding in traditional social-based routing. Furthermore, we also propose an improved version of EESR to dynamically adjust the controlling parameter. Simulation results on real-life DTN traces demonstrate the efficiency of our proposed algorithms.

Energy-Aware Probabilistic Epidemic Forwarding Method in Heterogeneous Delay Tolerant Networks
Due to the increasing use of wireless communications, infrastructure-less networks such as Delay Tolerant Networks (DTNs) should be highly considered. DTN is most suitable where there is an intermittent connection between communicating nodes such as wireless mobile ad hoc network nodes. In general, a message sending node in DTN copies the message and transmits it to nodes which it encounters. A...

Routing in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) is a very challenging task due to the large number of nodes, their mobility and lack of proper infrastructure. Since the sensors are battery powered devices, energy efficiency is considered as one of the main factors in designing routing protocols in WSNs. Most of energy-aware routing protocols are mere energy savers that attempt to decrease the energy...

متن کاملA Survey: An Energy Efficient Routing Protocol in Delay Tolerant Networks (DTN)
In a resource constrained network such as Delay Tolerant Networks (DTN), efficient utilization of resources such as energy is important for optimum network performance. However, due to nodes mobility, frequency of encounters and message transmission, most of node’s energy in this type of network is continuously depleted. A node’s energy in DTN plays an important role in the success of deliverin...
متن کاملEnergy Efficient Routing in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks by Using Honey Bee Mating Optimization
Mobile Ad hoc networks (MANETs) are composed of mobile stations communicating through wireless links, without any fixed backbone support. In these networks, limited power energy supply, and frequent topology changes caused by node mobility, makes their routing a challenging problem. TORA is one of the routing protocols that successfully copes with the nodes’ mobility side effects, but it do...
