Thermodynamic gauge-theory cascade

چکیده

It is proposed that the cooling of a thermalized SU(N) gauge theory can be formulated in terms of a cascade involving three effective theories with successively reduced (and spontaneously broken) gauge symmetries, SU(N)→ U(1)N−1 →Z(N). The approach is based on the assumption that away from a phase transition the bulk of the quantum interaction inherent to the system is implicitly encoded in the (incomplete) classical dynamics of a collective part made of low-energy condensed degrees of freedom. The properties of (some of the) statistically fluctuating fields are determined by these condensate(s). This leads to a quasi-particle description at tree-level. It appears that radiative corrections, which are sizable at large gauge coupling, do not change the tree-level picture qualitatively. The thermodynamic self-consistency of the quasi-particle approach implies nonperturbative evolution equations for the associated masses. The temperature dependence of these masses, in turn, determine the evolution of the gauge coupling(s). The hot gauge system approaches the behavior of an ideal gas of massless gluons at asymptotically large temperature. A negative equation of state is possible at a stage where the system is about to settle into the phase of the (spontaneously broken) Z(N) symmetry.

Some Thermodynamic Aspects of Pure Glue, Fuzzy Bags and Gauge/String Duality

The thermodynamic properties of a SU(3) gauge theory without quarks are calculated using a string formulation for 1.2Tc ≤ T ≤ 3Tc. The results are in good agreement with the lattice data. We also comment on SU(N) gauge theories. PACS numbers: 12.38.Lg, 12.90.+b MPP-2007-72

Influence of Aluminum, Gallium, Indium- Doping on the Boron-Nitride Nanotubes (BNNTs) investigated with density functional theory (DFT) and Hartreefock (HF) methods. For this purpose, the chemical shift of difference atomic nucleus was studied using the gauge included atomic orbital (GIAO) approch. In the following, structural parameter values, electrostatic potential, thermodynamic parameters,...

گسسته‌سازی زمانی بارش‌ بر اساس مدل آبشاری میکروکانونیک (توسعه بسته نرم‌افزاری و مطالعه موردی)

Rain gauge stations that measure fine scale rainfall are mainly limited in number or in the length of the recorded data. Therefore, temporal disaggregation models have been considered because of their ability in generating fine scale data from coarse scale measurements of rainfall. In this study, microcanonical cascade model, which is based on the scaling properties of rainfall and consta...

Holomorphic D7-branes and Flavored N = 1 Gauge Theories

We consider D7-branes in the gauge theory/string theory correspondence, using a probe approximation. The D7-branes have four directions embedded holomorphically in a non-compact Calabi-Yau 3-fold (which for specificity we take to be the conifold) and their remaining four directions are parallel to a stack of D3-branes transverse to the Calabi-Yau space. The dual gauge theory, which has N = 1 su...

Finite Temperature Sum Rules in Lattice Gauge Theory

We derive non-perturbative sum rules in SU(N) lattice gauge theory at finite temperature. They relate the susceptibilities of the trace anomaly and energy-momentum tensor to temperature derivatives of the thermodynamic potentials. Two of them have been derived previously in the continuum and one is new. In all cases, at finite latttice spacing there are important corrections to the continuum su...
