چکیده

In this report, we discuss the modifications of the congestion control mechanism of TCP, which is the major transport-layer protocol in the current Internet, for high-speed and long-delay networks. We categorize them by the network congestion indications which a TCP sender utilizes to increase/decrease its congestion window size. We also introduce recent works of our research group, which is an inline network measurement method which measures the bandwidth information of the network path between sender and receiver hosts, and TCP Symbiosis which control its congestion window size based on the measured bandwidth information.

Design of Arrayed Waveguide Grating based Optical Switch for High Speed Optical Networks

This paper demonstrates the design of an Arrayed Waveguide Gratings (AWG) based optical switch. In the design both physical and network layer analysis is performed. The physical layer power and noise analysis is done to obtain Bit Error Rate (BER). This has been found that at the higher bit rates, BER is not affected with number of buffer modules. Network layer analysis is done to obtain perfor...

Detecting Bot Networks Based On HTTP And TLS Traffic Analysis

Abstract— Bot networks are a serious threat to cyber security, whose destructive behavior affects network performance directly. Detecting of infected HTTP communications is a big challenge because infected HTTP connections are clearly merged with other types of HTTP traffic. Cybercriminals prefer to use the web as a communication environment to launch application layer attacks and secretly enga...

Congestion Control in a High Speed Radio Environment

This paper explores interactions between congestion control mechanisms at the transport layer and scheduling algorithms at the physical layer in the High-Speed Down-link Packet Access extension to WCDMA. Two different approaches to congestion control – TCP SACK and TFRC – are studied. We find that TCP SACK and TFRC in most respects perform the same way. SIR scheduling give a higher system throu...

Improved performance of subballast stabilized using geocell for high speed train

Rapid urbanization and growing industrial demand in many developing countries has led to frequent congestion of the transport infrastructure. Therefore, the expansion of high-speed rail (HSR) networks is crucial to meet this growing demand. Nevertheless, applying high cyclic stress causes significant lateral spreading and in turn excessive settlements of the track substructure. This problem bec...

Performance Evaluation and Comparison of Transport Protocols for Fast Long-Distance Networks

It is well known that TCP does not fully utilize the available bandwidth in fast long-distance networks. To solve this scalability problem, several high speed transport protocols have been proposed. They include HighSpeed TCP (HS-TCP), Scalable TCP (S-TCP), Binary increase control TCP (BIC-TCP), and H-TCP. These protocols increase (decrease) their window size more aggressively (slowly) compared...
