Can a Black Hole Collapse to a Space-time Singularity?

چکیده

A critique of the singularity theorems of Penrose, Hawking, and Geroch is given. It is pointed out that a gravitationally collapsing black hole acts as an ultrahigh energy particle accelerator that can accelerate particles to energies inconceivable in any terrestrial particle accelerator, and that when the energy E of the particles comprising matter in a black hole is ∼ 10GeV or more, or equivalently, the temperature T is ∼ 10K or more, the entire matter in the black hole is converted into quark-gluon plasma permeated by leptons. As quarks and leptons are fermions, it is emphasized that the collapse of a black-hole to a space-time singularity is inhibited by Pauli’s exclusion principle. It is also suggested that ultimately a black hole may end up either as a stable quark star, or as a pulsating quark star which may be a source of gravitational radiation, or it may simply explode with a mini bang of a sort.

Quantum Gravitational Collapse

We apply the recent results in Loop Quantum Cosmology and in the resolution of Black Hole singularity to the gravitational collapse of a star. We study the dynamic of the space time in the interior of the Schwarzschild radius. In particular in our simple model we obtain the evolution of the matter inside the star and of the gravity outside the region where the matter is present. The boundary co...

Naked Singularity, Black-hole and the Mass Loss in a Spherically Symmetric Gravitational Collapse

A distinguishable physical property between a naked singularity and a black-hole, formed during a gravitational collapse has important implications for both experimental and theoretical relativity. We examine the energy radiated during the spherically symmetric Gravitational collapse in this context within the framework of general relativity. It is shown that total energy radiated( Mass Loss) d...

Gravitationally Collapsing Shells in (2+1) Dimensions

We study gravitationally collapsing models of pressureless dust, fluids with pressure, and the generalized Chaplygin gas (GCG) shell in (2+1)-dimensional spacetimes. Various collapse scenarios are investigated under a variety of the background configurations such as anti-de Sitter(AdS) black hole, de Sitter (dS) space, flat and AdS space with a conical deficit. As with the case of a disk of dus...

On naked singularities in higher dimensional Vaidya space - times

We investigate the end state of gravitational collapse of null fluid in higher dimensional space-times. Both naked singularities and black holes are shown to be developing as final outcome of the collapse. The naked singularity spectrum in collapsing Vaidya region (4D) gets covered with increase in dimensions and hence higher dimensions favor black hole in comparison to naked singularity. The C...

Non-Singular Gravitational Collapse of a Homogeneous Scalar Field in Deformed Phase Space

Abstract—In the present work, we revisit the collapse process of a spherically symmetric homogeneous scalar field (in FRW background) minimally coupled to gravity, when the phase-space deformations are taken into account. Such a deformation is mathematically introduced as a particular type of noncommutativity between the canonical momenta of the scale factor and of the scalar field. In the abse...
